Poor management, high staff turnover, a lack of clear communicationThe good thingsClean/Tidy Store with some very helpful coworkers
The challengesVery high staff turnover during the short time I worked there, with five employees leaving, indicating ongoing management and workplace culture issues. When I started, I clearly stated I was available to work every day as a casual and was flexible with shifts. After a family member became unwell, I reasonably reduced my availability to four days per week, which management showed little understanding toward and ultimately let me go over. Communication from management was poor, I received little to no warning that my role was at risk, despite consistently performing well and achieving strong results on the register, where I was mainly rostered. On the day I was dismissed, I had already worked four hours without a tea break and was called in to be let go while heading to my lunch break. This occurred the day after I was asked to work a 10-hour shift. Being dismissed shortly after raising a family health issue, and just five days before Christmas, showed a lack of empathy and consideration
