No matter how hard staff try, the toxic culture and lack of support from management ruin the workplace.
The good thingsThe staff try to support each other, but it’s a tough and draining place to work. Job security and steady hours. Modern facilities
The challengesAbsent and unresponsive management. Poor communication and follow-up. Heavy workloads with little support. Staff morale is low, culture feels toxic. Management shifts blame instead of fixing problems. Company values are promoted but not lived in practice.

It is a good company to work for with cons and pros.
The good thingsGreat work-life balance. Friendly staff. Competitive pay rate.
The challengesThere is no salary sacrifice, and the only incentive Aegis appreciate" is utterly useless.

    Thankless and overworked job
The good thingsReputable organisation lead by a CEO who has a genuine passionate for healthcare. Company systems and processes are extensive and well set-up. Many opportunities for career growth within the aged care sector.
The challengesThe company do a lot of talk about "looking after their nurses" and expect loyalty in return. The staff here, especially RN's, are overworked and underappreciated. They've built a culture where apparently it's okay to volunteer hours of your own time staying back every shift, almost everyday. The immense workload is overwhelming and they do everything but hire more staff; instead they blame time management and call it a part of the job. They don't pay overtime or offer salary packaging, instead have a "Aegis Appreciate" program which is utterly useless. For a job where your AHPRA registration is on the line every single shift, it's not only dangerous, but you are so unsupported and alone. I'll be sticking this job out for a couple more months then moving on to somewhere I'm actually appreciated.

Unless you are prepared to volunteer a lot of your own time to perform the amount of tasks and expectations required, don’t do it.
The good thingsThe residents and staff
The challengesImpossible to do the number of tasks without volunteering your own time. The more you do, the more is expected. Management only acknowledge nursing staff. The rest of us are made to feel we are lucky to have a job. Free overtime an expectation.

I would never work for Aegis Ellenvale, nor Aegis ever again.
The good thingsSome great colleagues. Very supportive
The challengesEverything! Management not supportive & spent a lot of time micromanaging. Low job satisfaction. Time constraints. Ongoing burnout. Too much emphasis on electronic paperwork & priority not given to resident care. The outcome from all the above is that the elderly residents were the ones that suffered. You could not care for the elderly like they deserve.
