Team was great to work with. Extremely helpful and caring. Mangement not so much. It is true what they say. It's not the work that makes you move on. It's the manager.
The good thingsCoworkers were great to work with.
    The challengesThe people managing.

    Very disappointing and unprofessional.
The good thingsSome good people in dispersed through the company. Good corporate technical resources available.
The challenges"C I" is an accepted acronym for continuous improvement. May be considered as cronyism and institutionalised here.

The wind has been taken out of the sales!
The good thingsThe industry is a very profitable market with high barriers to entry, Air Liquide and its competitors are all solid and operate a very strong bottom line. The AL business is supported by a solid global backing, with a safe and conservative approach and French heritage. The business is very much engineering and operational based and best career opportunities exist for engineers and graduates, while HSEQ and operational roles exist due to the nature of the compressed and cryogenic gases.
The challengesA very simple business is made extremely difficult. Very conservative business and slow decision making processes. High priority on managing the bottom line and ongoing continuous improvement programs in lieu of top line and market share. Industry has a low customer NPS baseline and low value product. Employee retention significantly declined with ongoing organisational restructures over the years and management changes since the expatriate and relocation opportunities ceased around 2015. Very strong modern corporate and management approach to equal opportunity. Many services have been taken offshore.

Fantastic learning experience & fun colleagues to work alongside with
The good thingsCareer development is great at this company, providing opportunities to travel for assignments interstate/overseas. Networking and learning with experienced employees is a highlight, as there is so much knowledge out there in the industry. Started as a graduate and presented lots of career options to test and push yourself to the limit.
The challengesDue to being a global company, changes can take time to process. Particularly IT & digital projects need to be reviewed very closely so can take time. It can be a struggle to take time off effectively without being interrupted as there is lots of work to be completed. Sometimes work can be overbearing but the impact of your work is recognised and seen with benefits.

Air Liquide is the life-blood of our modern society and a rock solid career choice.
The good thingsAir Liquide as a group has a fervent culture of well-being for it's employees. H&S is first and foremost in all activities and duty of care to our end-user is evident in the millions of Euro spent in R&D to produce the best and safest product on the planet. Their moto of returning home better than arriving at work is admirable. Teamwork is currently flavour of the year as experienced at our annual national conference recently. It is truly a world-class act governed by passionate leadership and a worthy global leader in the gas industry. The current crop of managers and employees makes this place a pleasure to come to work.
The challengesCovid setbacks are now history, however some customers experience typical admin frustrations synonymous with large conglomerates, sometimes exhausting for account managers to field. Fortunately our Customer Services team is a slick well-managed operator in this very challenging industry.

I would not hesitate in returning to Air Liquide if a suitable role presented itself. A great business that experiences challenges just like any other. Excellent bunch of people to work with. A challenging but very rewarding role.
The good thingsThe people and the camaraderie. Everyone is extremely supportive and willing to help each other.
The challengesToo many competing demands and priorities. At times slow to progress with projects. Meeting the demands of multiple Managers. Difficult to take leave sick/annual without interruption

Not a great one, not really a positive to be found. Market as ethical and environmental on the outside but in no way reflective of the day to day for the team.
The good thingsJob environment was ok, nothing special however.
The challengesLow pay, unresponsive management, uncooperative workmates and lack of opportunities.

Could have been a really good place to work, but it was spoiled for me by lazy colleagues
The good thingsIt started well, I was happy to get the opportunity via a friend who referred me through, so was good working with him
The challengesI tried to make my best effort, but ran into a lot of negativity from the longtime workers there who stick together. They struggle with staffing and the work is very repetative and when I offerred to do overtime they took it for granted

My tip, keep on seeking, there are much better employers out there.
The good thingsNobody really cares about anything but lining their own pockets, as you don't cut their lunch the perks are endless...
The challengesTop level management are the worst I have ever experienced. They would rather see you fail than help in any way and don't start me on safety, they wouldn't know safety if they fell face first into a bucket of it.

Overall great company made up of great people. A place where hard work can and does pay off.
The good thingsI'm currently employed by AL. Everybody treats each other with respect. Management does care about the staff. Our MD reaches out by email to make sure we are ok. The number 1 focus at AL is on safety. Even through C19 AL sent everyone home prior to other companies with all the hardware we needed without fuss. We were all kept informed and supported and worked as a team to minimise impact, keeping everyone employed. We have great staff and the highest number of long term employees I've ever come across in a workplace. That says alot to me. I've met some great people.
The challengesA Global Company. It takes a long time to get to know who does what and when due to the department locations being spread across the country and overseas. The management lines are deep and they need to be due to the company's size. The workload is complex and intense. The volume moving through internal departments is high volume so strict procedure is required to be followed in order that this volume stays organised. This is not a company to work for if you are after a free ride but you will be looked after when you do a good job.

A business with no culture and a lack of purpose beyond achieving arbitrary targets
The good thingsA mostly great team of talented individuals with whom it was a pleasure to work.
The challengesThe pre-occupation of senior management with short-term objectives. Very narrow target driven focus on financial performance, to the detriment of any longer-term strategic plan or vision.
