Company culture was disjointed, unsupportive, and ultimately misaligned with its stated values.
The good thingsThe role gave me insight into what kind of workplace culture to avoid.
The challengesThe internal culture did not align with the values promoted publicly. Leadership lacked transparency, and communication was often disjointed or dismissive. It became clear that collaboration and psychological safety were not priorities, which made day-to-day work unnecessarily stressful.

Great Culture, Supportive Team, and Strong Development Opportunities
The good thingsThe company fosters a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration, where everyone is willing to share their knowledge and support one another. From day one, I felt welcomed and valued as part of the team.
The challengesBeing hired on a fixed-term contract, securing a permanent contract is difficult.

    Great brand and experience
The good thingsThis review only applies to Airbus RAAF Richmond: The work was meaningful, interesting and very challenging. There was basically no politics at the work site level. The management was considered and practical. Work life balance was fantastic. Real opportunity to move overseas with Airbus (particularly to Europe). Amazing brand value.
The challengesUncertainty about future work sustainability as no new contracts were secured. Poor progression pathways in Australia.

A good jump-up for those with management aspirations, however very conservative and frustrating in the support areas that should be developed further as an organisation.
The good thingsA fairly good opportunity for inexperienced employees to progress into management positions. Salary is quite reasonable /on par with market expectations.
The challengesA bit of a messy product with limited assistance from the european producers to remediate issues. Essentially a sales focused environment with not much depth on the other side of the contract signatures.

It’s entertaining some days, but unless you’re a fan of the most painfully bureaucratic and obtuse way of doing anything, I’d suggest alternative workplaces.
The good thingsThe aircraft are amazing and your colleagues for the most part try incredibly hard to make things work.
The challengesManagement cannot manage people. The structure of the orhinaisatikn is ridiculous and confusing. No one know who they should talk to about what, including the customer.

There's something to be said for how you feel stressed when you're not at work.
The good thingsThere's a fridge to put your lunch, and smoko van comes around midday every day. Nice view of the river.
The challengesI've never met anyone in Airbus IT that actually likes working at Airbus. They've had alot of turnover in the past few years, and I can see why. Having multiple bosses/managers/customers or however you want to spin it is not a very clear way to give direction. Management have a very Marxist attitude. Not every worker is equally capable and productive as the next.

    Not for non-defense personnel
The good thingsThe brand name and that’s about it.
The challengesNot a business model that encourages efficiency. It doesn’t help either that 80% of employees are ex defense and do not have an iota of knowledge on how to run a business. The company is not the defense force. Work here only as a last resort.
