A huge sense of relief after leaving
The good thingsNice Coworker, met so many new friends, learnt basic mineral processing and laboratory testing methods, the pay is nothing exceptional
The challengesworked with a lazy and Ineffective leader, biased management, including double standards towards employees; poor working conditions, with the lab being extremely hot in summer due to lack of air conditioning and very cold in winter; repetitive, unrewarding work with limited opportunities for growth, unless one is expected to handle the workload of multiple people

Work is easy, and colleagues are friendly, but management is poor; high earners waste time on basics
The good thingsWorking hours are flexible. The work environment is relatively clean. Wages and overtime pay are standardised and paid promptly.
The challengesManagers, especially middle managers, lack management experience and skills. They have a thorough grasp of job knowledge, but their coordination of work and personnel is merely perfunctory. The bureaucratic system is too severe, and various problems are handled inappropriately. You won't have a chance to get promoted if you can't do the work of two or three people. The work itself isn't difficult, and my colleagues are friendly, but the management in every aspect is terrible. For example, I often see someone with double my annual salary spending a lot of time looking for parts and cleaning.

Tedious and long-term unrewarding work - only stick around if you have no other options
The good thingsI enjoyed the friendships I have made
The challengesThe role is physically demanding, production-line "style" factory work with almost no mental stimulation. Training is inconsistent, often based on outdated worksheets, and some instructors struggle with even basic communication. The workplace is dirty, poorly ventilated, and can be oppressively humid in summer — cleanliness and staff well-being is clearly ignored in favor of hitting KPIs.

You will burn out quickly, the environment is harsh and some of the team leaders are kind of jerks.
The good thingspay is ok, still not worth it for the all the stuff you have to do, the system for taking breaks makes no sense with how much they expect you to do
The challengeswill drain you very quickly, boring repetitive work with not a lot of scope for growth, environment really sucks, team leaders think they own the place

The work conditions eventually led me to burnout
    The good thingsGood training, stability.
The challengesIt's a large company with a small-minded approach. They don't value good employees, the roster is poorly managed, and staff are expected to do everything there isn’t even anyone responsible for cleaning. There's a competitive, rather than collaborative, culture employees. The pay is low!

Was glad I quit. Will suck the life out of you
The good thingsNone didn't like the attitude one bit
The challengesHorrible pay. They say they will train you after a week they expect you to know it all. Even though it takes a good 6 months to learn. Very very toxic environment to work in. I left found another job.

The management in mackay is unbelievably bias and have double standards dealing with their employees. Management is best at taking sides without proper investigations and upper management should look at their leaders in mackay

Good learning experience and could have been good long term job if not for lack of communication.
The good thingsWas a good learning experience.
The challengesThe work was physically demanding and I found the overall management was lacking. Only scheduled to work one day in advance and had to go onsite to check or wait for a phone call.

    Toxic workplace; horrible experience!
The good thingsThe lab is near some great food places!

    Awful
The good thingsI enjoyed the people
The challengesThe management was poor and unsupportive of the whole team. Work was irregular and training was nowhere to be seen. Career progression won’t happen until you do your time in the jobs that they all don’t enjoy doing. I wouldn’t recommend this job to anyone. The pay was below average.

30 years of Purchasing, both locally and internationally.
The good thingsIt's always a fulfilling to be able to locate a previously unknown suppler/service provider who is very cost effective and can supply an excellent product or service when required. In my current roll this is what I strive for. No business can function well using second rate suppliers
The challengesThe biggest challenges for many business currently is getting stock in a timely fashion. As most of you will be aware this is probably the most difficult roll. If I don't get this right there is potential for staff to be laid off. I see this not so much as a difficulty, but a responsibility I feel towards my work mates.

Some ups and downs but lows definitely outweigh the highs.
The good things Some of the techs and some of the away jobs
The challengesDealing with management that does not come from the industry and have the background knowledge. Being told one thing when its the complete opposite. Away jobs that extend beyond there intended time. Having to work the next day after flying in from a nightshift.
