    Careworker
    Jan 2026
Elizabeth SA 51123 to 4 years in the role, current employee
Year one with the company was good. Year three and four has been poor. Work for someone who cares.
The good thingsMy lead care worker is wonderful, supportive and there for me. Flexible hours. Training provided and paid for. Paid travel time and kms. Work phone.
The challengesUnfortunate care team manager who doesn’t care about the care team. Does NOT respect or care about casuals, and does not respect time off for health. If you take time off for health, you get your shifts taken away upon return and deemed ‘unreliable’. Management are rude. Rostering have issues. Promises to go part time, several years later and still casual. Lack of career progression despite promises. Fortnightly pay instead of weekly pay. Payroll errors causing incorrect pays.

Supportive colleagues, but unresolved team culture issues and behaviours.
The good thingsI appreciated the warm welcome from several members and felt supported by my manager, who showed genuine care and understanding during challenging times
The challengesA key challenge was an unprofessional team culture where inappropriate behaviours were normalised and not adequately addressed by the coordinator. make it difficult to feel psychologically safe.

The challengesThe management is unprofessional, sickness team culture from the top.

The challengesIt is a large organisation which sometimes slows down progress and is often hard to know all the wonderful programs that are on offer that may be able to link members of the community to

After almost 1 year working for Anglicare I am happy with my decision. I see many years to come, working for such a reputable organisation.
The good thingsAfter coming from a government position in Child Protection I was overwhelmed by the professionalism, integrity and passion for the work we do, with awesome colleagues. I have been especially impressed with the Recruitment and HR Team, from interview through to onboarding. Everything happened without a hitch!
The challengesThe challenges are working in a highly stressful area of human services. Which is why it is so important to find the right professionals who are also a good culture fit, to serve vulnerable people. My Anglicare colleagues are the best!

    Home Care Package Coordinator

Elizabeth SA 51122 to 3 years in the role, former employee
My time at AnglicareSA was both challenging and fulfilling. The human services industry is naturally demanding (physically, mentally, and emotionally) but the incredible support of my team helped me manage the day-to-day. The flexibility to work from home as much as needed was a huge plus. However, even with that flexibility, the high caseload and stress were ultimately too much for me to manage as I transitioned into motherhood. I’m proud of the work I did there and the impact we had, but to retain passionate and capable staff, more sustainable workloads and better support for major life transitions are essential.
The good thingsThe absolute highlight of working at AnglicareSA was my team. We shared common values, got along effortlessly, and built lasting friendships that extended beyond the workplace. The work itself was incredibly meaningful and I could see the real difference we were making in the lives of vulnerable people and their families. AnglicareSA maintains high standards of care and professionalism, which, while demanding, gave me confidence that our clients were genuinely receiving the best support possible.
The challengesA major disappointment was the lack of flexibility around returning part-time after maternity leave. Initially, my request was denied, and it wasn’t until I involved Fair Work that a compromise was reached. This experience left me feeling unsupported during a critical life transition. Additionally, the caseloads were consistently high and stressful. While management made internal changes in an attempt to address this, the pressure and workload remained largely unchanged.

    Aged Care Worker

Would never recommend, will never go back.
The good thingsSalary sacrifice, meals entertainment card, the customers and some like minded workers who want to help older people.
The challengesManagement has no customer focus, teams working in silos with "that's not my job" mentality. Big organisation that claims to change lives together - not sure how, barely acknowledge customer complaints to ensure issues are resolved. Hires careworkers with little experience or english skills.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working at AnglicareSA. Although I was initially unsure, the organisation truly grew on me, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to join.
The good thingsAnglicareSA demonstrates strong values and a genuine focus on customers. They offer excellent work-life balance, fostering a supportive and cohesive environment. The work is engaging, with managers encouraging innovation and actively supporting learning and development. Also their salary packaging is excellent.
The challengesWhile working here during a period of change, there were challenges with the introduction of too many new systems at once, which made adaptation difficult. Additionally, some hiring managers were resistant to adopting new approaches.

Adelaide SA 50005 to 6 years in the role, former employee
The company experienced a significant staff turnover attributed to suboptimal management decisions & poor hiring decisions.
The good thingsThe company is attuned to community concerns. On a service level, they want the best for their employees
The challengesOverlooked for a higher role in the department I worked in for several years, not enough workers for work load. Managers don't always see the hard work that their staff put into their role.

80 - 90% of the time I was supported to grow, learn and develop and felt appreciated and valued for my contributions.
The good thingsCommunity Services - outstanding leadership and management. Very ethical and reflective, especially when it comes to worker issues like award rates and safety.
The challengesCommunity Services - The normal challenges of working for a very large organisation. Some of the bureaucracy is annoying, some internal services could be better etc. Overall is improving.

Good but there is better out there
The good thingsDeveloping relationships with clients. Working as part of a team. Developing skills.
The challengesThere were some managers that were unsupportive of their workers as people. Some staff who do not support the values of Anglicare. Felt there could have been more development of good staff.
