High Volumes with little management support
The good thingsWork from home opportunities and friendly colleagues.
The challengesThe culture of the business, particularly Affinity was very high volume with teams operating understaffed however expectations were to meet/exceed unrealistic sales results despite the resourcing and system issues. Management were also not supportive with training or assisting with large workload.

It was an enjoyable and vibrant environment from my view point with some great people and support.
The good thingsEnjoyed working for Aon with a diverse and challenging role, supportive management and given autonomy to manage my own business.
The challengesCareer progression was limited in the department that I worked in.

Aon "walks the talk" and truly encourages a healthy work life balance and a cultural diversity mindset.
The good thingsGreat work life balance. Friendly environment. Excellent leadership.
The challengesIt can be difficult to get your head around some of the Aon applications and to work out how to manoeuvre within them, however, once you've used them a couple of times, they become easier.

A organization that does truly strive to provide balanced opportunities at all levels.
The good thingsWorking for a small regional team in a supportive environment and career paths available if you want them. Working for a global organization. Stable management and generally dynamic team.
    The challengesFast paced environment

    Terrible Management
The good thingsBenefits of working for worldwide organisation
The challengesManagement at least in this branch are out for themselves and their unacceptable behaviour is left unchecked by higher levels. Resulting in ridiculously fast turnover of staff.

AON was not a great experience, moved on very quickly.
The good thingsPlenty of engagement/support from external stakeholders ie Insurers.
The challengesPoor onboarding and very poor staffing/resourcing, seemingly across a wide range of branches. Very little support or positive culture.

Horrible place to work, do not recommend to anyone
The good thingsGlobal business with clout in the market
The challengesToo much red tape and expectations, corporate attitudes and all about the numbers, lack of communication, clunky systems, very unfriendly staff, from the top say they care but doesn't filter down.

One of the best places I've ever worked.
The good thingsAon is a very supportive and flexible with a great work culture. The company looks after its people and the people in turn are very motivated to give their best.
The challengesThe insurance industry is very rigid and structured, so naturally the work process also is. I don't think this will ever change.

Not enough skilled workers to do the work.
The good thingsLarge business with many opportunities to cross skill
The challengesExcessive work load. Many people have resigned in past 18 months due to excessive workload. Senior management work long hours and this sets the expectations down the line.

I have nothing really bad to say about Aon, it’s been such a great place for my growth and network, they are very focused on people and culture which is rare. Would highly recommend to others
The good thingsThe people are amazing
The challengesSometimes time progression is left too long, they have great opportunities but too slow to promote you

Enjoyable ethical workplace but agile work environment is counterproductive to collegiality.
The good thingsEthical culture, values driven executive and geniune ongoing attempts to improve employee satisfaction. Salary meets market expectations.
The challengesNot the most dynamic of workplaces (regional offices are better), agile workspaces do not contribute to collegiality or comradery. Constant change. Focus is on performance - short lifespan if you are not prepared to work.

Look elsewhere, the company is backwards and does little to help staff who have any disagreement with their Manager. Complete teams left the Branch due to bad Management.
The good thingsSome nice staff but a great deal of bad attitudes by certain Rural Managers
The challengesWorking long hours in a rural branch with little to no help from Management

    Could be better
The good thingsThere are great people but you have to find them. Office is casual
The challengesHard to suggest because managers only see what they want to see and believe they are better. You get noticed if you are related to the managers or good friends with them.

Extremely personally rewarding if you are seeking knowledge & experience development, avoid if you are looking for a company that looks after their people and pays what you are worth.
The good thingsGreat colleagues with brilliant minds sharing knowledge.
The challengesExtremely poor management. The primary focus is increasing targets and reducing headcount. Workers comp mental health claims waiting to happen.

Great place to work in the beginning however soured by the backwards attitudes towards working mothers.
The good thingsThe work was stimulating, made some great friends, good incentives to work for the company.
The challengesAfter having children & returning part time, I was only given basic work well below my capabilities. Also, the attitudes of managerial staff was quite poor towards needing to take time off to care for my sick child. Anything good pre-kids was wiped out by the experience post-kids. I would never recommend working for Aon if they have kids or were planning to have kids. They say the right things but that's it.

Great organisation ... poor management. No backing from HR.
The good thingsWork life balance Continuous learning
The challengesManagement being blatantly biased and not being called out on it even after employee providing proof. HR is not there to protect the employees, they are there to protect management.

    I'm on seek.com for a reason.
The good thingsManagement well-versed and accommodating in personal issues affecting employees such as diversity and mental health. Free biscuits and fruit (at some branches).
The challengesPoor onboarding and availability to meaningful training, yet still expected to complete layers of superfluous processes and exercises to tick the compliance boxes. Claim to be people focused, but truly budget-driven. Little to no support for career progression. Average salary with insulting pay increments. Willing to spend millions on branding and marketing, yet cry 'budget' when yearly pay review comes around. Clunky, superseded information systems. Poorly organised with top-heavy decision-making in place of input by employees with 'boots on the ground'.

Would go back, for a price.
The good thingsCareer opportunities and development are aplenty, with more workshops and projects than you can shake a pen at
The challengesManagement is either brilliant, or terrible. There is no middle ground. The pay is below the industry average, but they'll tell you it's because of XYZ benefits (Which do not make up the 10K+ gap to the rest of the industry) Depending on which office you work in, access to interesting and challenging accounts is often limited to the lucky few.

    Stressful and no work-life balance.
The good thingsSome great managers who really do try to create a successful business
The challengesToo many levels of management, too many staff members who are allowed to be slack and don't receive discipline, unreasonable workloads, poor pay.
