The challengesATCO has a lot of potential, but unfortunately the PMC department faces some significant challenges. The team is often hampered by a lack of organisation and effective systems, which can make the work environment difficult. Leadership in this area can feel unapproachable and at times dismissive, with limited recognition of staff contributions. The workload is demanding, with considerable travel requirements and project deadlines that can sometimes be unrealistic. Frequent rescheduling of contractors is common, and work often continues through the Christmas/New Year period. There’s little company culture or team bonding, and the office environment feels uninspiring. The role of “Supervisor” is also very hands-on, involving tasks such as moving fences, repairing leaks, shifting materials, and other general labouring duties, which may not align with expectations for a supervisory position.

Despite the challenges that can arise in any workplace, ATCO truly stands out as a vibrant and enjoyable environment—it's more than just a job; it's your home away from home.
The good thingsThis is truly one of the finest places to work, where you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with highly experienced senior managers who are dedicated to your success.
The challengesDue to high workload and limited resources, long hours are required to complete tasks on time.

Family business, family orientated, great place to work on a daily basis.
The good thingsYour made to feel part of the family business. Your not a number, your treated as a valuable member. Everyday has something new to achieve. Being set goals and KPI's which can be met. When you leave in the afternoon, you have that feeling you have accomplished something and contributed to the overall company. All the leaders are very transparent and understanding.
The challengesChallenges you get can be resolved with the team that is around you. Each department has a wide range of knowledge, which are all readily available to get the answers you need.

ATCO is a place that has so much potential, however management (middle and upper) drop the ball and allow a large turn over. Mainly due to lack of support to their workers, large work loads and below average renumeration offerings. Finally, there is little to no opportunities for career growth. Some lucky employees have been in the right place at the right time, but for most when the opportunity arises they are denied. Management then proceed to hire externally.
The good thingsCompany maintained car, laptop and mobile.
The challengesYou are thrown in the deep end with no support. It is a sink or swim approach and management will ride on you until you are no longer required.

A company that can be great, but struggles to address issues to do with poor middle management.
The good thingsNot many apart from the odd work activity that would be arranged by individuals.
The challengesMiddle management preventing you from developing. Although there are yearly reviews and yearly goals set, there is no effort taken to ensure that you are given the opportunity to develop. Another big challenge is the in house politics.

    Good to work for
The good thingsMost of the people I worked with were lovely. The pay was right for the location.
The challengesTraining was pretty minimal - mainly on the job learning. This would work for some people but not for others. I was fine with it though found the support to be pretty lacking - especially from my team.

I felt out of place the entire time I was there.
The good thingsStaff in other departments.
The challengesDidn’t get the training that was required due to bad management and being moved to different roles to cover absences. Then was reprimanded for not getting the work done as quick as staff that had been doing the job for 15 years.
