AM&P

Feeling the pressure if you are at the mid senior level

The good things

Work life balance i.e. flexible working hours. Not question ask if employee choose to work from home as long as this does not compromise commitments to work priorities.

The challenges

Career advancement is heavily focus and expedited on juniors e.g. graduate up to seniors resulted in some of the employees' required experience and competencies are not up to their job title, causing challenges in delivering works at appropriate quality (as required for such level/ title) and increase pressure to more senior employees (or leads) to QA prior to issue to clients. Subsequently increase challenges in project budgets.

Senior Security Manager

Dec 2021

Senior Security Manager

Victoria, Australia
Less than 1 year in the role,

Aurecon has a very toxic culture of trying to suppress the team member's opinion. They do not appreciate any feedback that doesn't align with the management and senior team member's decisions.

The good things

Aurecon allowed flexibility at work but that's where the positivity ends

The challenges

The team doesn't recognise the employees for the effort they put into their work and contribution towards the success of the project. Most of the senior management and the architecture team leads are very political

Senior Electrical Engineer

Aug 2020

Senior Electrical Engineer

Queensland, Australia
3 to 4 years in the role,

Aurecon used to be a great place to work and should hopefully improve in future.

The good things

Good experienced team and quality work. Good projects and opportunities. Team culture is great. Great place if you are a young engineer as the pay and projects are great. Also good place to work if you don't have career aspirations as the roles are stable.

The challenges

Upper management lost vision since departure of previous CEO. Performance reviews are about who you know and not work performance. Management not supportive but team members support is good. Majority of teams work within comfort zone and do not aspire to grow. Commercial awareness as a organisation is below average.

The challenges

depending on division, work can slow down considerably but the company takes effort in re-deploying skills inter-division to share the burden of work. management changes meant sometimes lower ranked employees' skill and contribution may be overlooked

I don’t understand how things work at Aurecon

The good things

Not your traditional engineering consultancy. Focused on bringing value to client and invest strongly in innovation.

The challenges

Talent management is so poorly executed it might as well be non-existent. Promotions and opportunities are given based on who in Aurecon you know. Lack of framework between operations and market drivers means key decisions are made based on internal politics, and creates confusion
