Great company to work for, provided that you are under a good leader.
The good thingsGreat team, highly skilled personnel and good overall environment.
The challengesLack of good people management processes and systems, too reliant on individuals to drive results instead of sound and mature policies and procedures.

They invest in your growth and in return, you’re expected to excel in your role (which you will) and beyond for them and for yourself. Excellent company to work with at work and outside of work.
The good thingsExcellent office location in central CBD, close to public transport systems and beautiful open style office layouts for optimised collaboration between staffs. Excellent working from home arrangements with balancing between work and family time completely at your discretion. Management truly cares about new and current staffs ensuring they’re settled in and trained to excel in their roles. Management truly wants you to do well and not just a number. Win-win.
The challengesDifficult to join the company as an engineer due to highly competitive candidate market, took me 6 years, but you’ll be truly rewarded once you’ve been offered. Minerals market has never been better especially battery ingredients, which in return highly influence other metal prices too which is the downside. Clients can be vulnerable due to commodity prices but company is doing well through lessons learnt over the years by focusing on diversification, and what’s current and always finding a better way for into the future.

Overall they are ok to work for but decisions aren't always fair and reasonable due to senior management being a little incestuous.
The good thingsHigh performing culture, people held to account.
The challengesTop management is not diverse - firends of friends, family members etc. Particularly bad experience with being offered a role and having it retracted.

Sad to see a once great company now failing so badly
The good thingsNice people to work with who care about what they do
The challengesPoor management - used to be a great company but the current management has incredibly poor ethics, no respect for employees and lack of basic project management fundamentals.

Has its ups and downs and needs better direction from the front to ensure survival.
The good thingsSome good projects and during the peak was enjoyable
The challengesDifficult getting through the down turn. Strategy doesn't appear to match market conditions shown through continual decline in staff and balance sheet performance.

    Lack of management support
The good thingsTravel to out of the way places and the challenge of making the jobs work with minimal backup and engineering expertise
The challengesManagement - constant rate issues too greedy. Most cases had the opportunity for longevity but rate issues killed the clients want to complete or issue new work.

It was a very rewarding, exciting and learning work experience with Ausenco.
The good thingsAusenco takes care of its employees very well. Every month, there is a get together after office where you can socialize with other co employees. The people working at Ausenco are very professional and helpful.
The challengesDue to the introduction of the carbon and mining tax, not many projects are coming in for Ausenco. I hope that this cycle in the mining industry will be over in order for the EPCM companies to have more projects and thus give more job opportunities for the different professionals.

    Good experience overall.
The good thingsGreat people to work with and overall good working environment! Great project delivery systems, and we do deliver significant value to our clients! I also learned a lot about managing internal and external stakeholders. Very important soft skills to have.
The challengesThe slow down in the australian economy, has had a significant effect on the staff moral. Unfortunately this is beyond the companies control, and resulted in the loss of great people!

If the call came, I would go back there right now....today!
The good thingsI really liked the working environment. Also, what Ausenco does - providing engineered solutions is first rate.
The challengesSome of the managers are reluctant to move with the times. This means that some of the procedures adopted on a project can be inefficient.

Frustrating due being retrenched after only one year.
The good thingsDiverse projects. Good staff. Time was granted to me by the technical Director to prepare a report on one of my initiatives.
The challengesMy time with Ausenco was during the GFC, so the bottom fell out of the engineering industry. I didn't have enough time to show what I could do.
