Wouldn’t recommend this facility- very toxic work environment. Doesn’t value employees.
The good thingsSome nice residents and few staff members.
The challengesToxic work environment- lack of communication from top management- national leader has no respect for others-facility general manager is always confused & biased- department managers resigning due to extreme high pressure and lack of support- residents suffering due to new standards package but suffer in silence.

Just don't do it. You will be disappointed with what this job REALLY entails.
The good thingsMeeting new people. Helping elderly customers.
The challengesThe new rostering system, which was suppose to keep us closer to home with minimal travel between clients so we could fit more services on our rosters, has actually done the opposite & made travelling much longer especially too and from home which is unpaid travel. Hardly any regular customers, different customers in different areas every day. The customers constantly complaining about having different carers at different times. The customers hate it, and it clearly makes some of them quite stressed. Too much travelling and stress. The job is definately mainly consiting of cleaning even when you are a PC worker. Many customers expecting a maid service, they are never told we don't do proffessional type cleaning services. Most of the managers have no idea what its like working in the field. If you want to be constantly complained to for something beyond your control and be expected to work like a maid service this job is for you.

f you value your wellbeing, I strongly advise against working for this toxic organisation.
The good thingsLocal-level leaders and care workers are truly remarkable.
The challengesMy experience at Australian Unity was deeply disappointing. Constant restructures and shifting priorities created confusion rather than clarity, with unclear roles, slow decision-making, and limited accountability. Many high-performing leaders and subject-matter experts left due to frustration with senior management and the lack of clear strategic direction, and their departure only increased pressure on those who remained. Cultural issues, including favouritism and limited psychological safety, further eroded trust. While there are still capable and committed people in the organisation, morale is low, and without meaningful reform to leadership accountability, culture, and the operating model, I would not recommend working there.

    horrible company with unintelligent management
The good thingsthe clients are the only thing

A consistently negative experience due to weak leadership, chaotic processes, and minimal guidance.
The good thingsUnfortunately my experience was consistently below expectations. Communication was unclear, support was limited, and follow-through was poor. I cannot recommend based on my experience.”
The challengesNothing about this interaction came close to the standard expected. Poor communication, no follow-through, and a generally unprofessional approach.”

An incredibly impactful and meaningful organization to be part of.
The good thingsAustralian Unity is truly Values based organization, with its employees and customers at the heart of everything it does. Collaboration between teams and departments is consistently high and our teams enjoy working in cohesive and supportive environments. This organization is very diverse and made up of various business platforms which collectively or individually create Real Wellbeing for our thousands of customers, members and employees. I've had the privilege of having great leaders, excellent teams to work in and supported learning and career development.
The challengesAs a vastly growing and transforming organization, there can often be challenges and things to adapt to as part of the change journey. The customers we often support are vulnerable and the work extremely impactful but also demanding and challenging. No organization or leader is perfect but there is an absolute desire for improvement in all business operations and employee morale and engagement surveyed every year in order for us to work out the development areas and listen to the voices of our many team members.

Melbourne VIC 30002 to 3 years in the role, current employee
A purpose-driven organization with genuine values, and exciting transformation ahead.
The good thingsAustralian Unity is a truly values-led organisation where the culture feels warm, supportive and authentic. Collaboration is a real strength. I've had access to meaningful career development opportunities and felt supported by leaders who encourage growth and innovation. The company's investment in new technologies and ways of working jeeps things fresh and future focused, which makes it an exciting place to be.
The challengesLike many organizations going through transformation, change can sometimes feel fast-paced and require adaptability. There are moments when priorities shift quickly as business evolves, but the intent behind the change is always positive - to better align with our customers and strengthen how we work together.

    They don’t hire ENs
The good thingsPrevious management was friendly and supportive. They loved encouraging staff to get to know the residents
The challengesNew management has systematically broken down the facility and treats staff horribly. They will hire ENs as PCAs

Service coordinators would benefit from minimum hours worked each month as a care worker to fully understand the struggles to effectively be a team leader.
The good thingsThe clients, the peer care workers trying to do their best to support the elderly
The challengesManagement just had no idea, high staff turnover, clients craved regular care staff but allocations simply filled shifts without any consideration of person-centred care, those without any dementia training were caring for people with dementia, people without training were emptying catheters.

Tamworth NSW 23403 to 4 years in the role, former employee
Just don’t! The recruiters aren’t local they’re selling what this job should be not the demoralising reality of what it is to work in that environment.
The good thingsThe pay is competitive There are some lovely workers who try to boost morale as best they can but their numbers are dwindling fast.
The challengesStaff turnover is high, very high. Power games & micromanagement the accepted norm. Attempts at feedback labelled “professional jealousy” & not taken seriously. No one seems to connect the dots of causation so the cycle of constant hiring keeps going as they churn through them one after the other

This company makes it very hard to love. Not a Well-being company!
The good thingsThis company used to be good and had good foundations and intent. The Customers and some line staff are good but ignored.
The challengesPoor oversight of constant organisational changes. Head office managers do not support the 'Well-being' message & lack understanding of site operations, leading to continuous futile changes, job insecurity & poor recognition for employees. Treats Customers as commodities, with no compassion/empathy.

Do not work here if you value your RN license - they will throw you to the wolves
The good thingsPay is slighter higher than average
The challengesManagement who will use the RN at as a scapegoat at any cost. They are incompetent, will provide you with the wrong instructions when you in good faith seek their help, and then lie and blame it on you to protect themselves. They have driven away every single amazing RN who has worked there.

Terrible toxic place to work, not a well-being company at all like the slogan.
The good thingsMy team were amazing and worked so hard. The salaries are above average which is what keeps a lot of people employed.
The challengesDysfunctional leadership, to many large scale projects on the go, terrible culture, no appreciation for staff, no care for those being cared for, profit and budgets above all else.

As a Domestic Assistant. Totally exhausting work no mix of service types ALL cleaning
The good thingsHelping ageing community in their homes.
The challengesDomestic Assistant: Expect lots of physicaly demanding work. As a domestic assistant a typical day would be 4-5 hours of cleaning homes, there is no taking clients shopping or to appointments as you need a cert 3 for that.

A practice of people centred care that has declined into a toxic environment with little if any real knowledge of what the employees do.

The good thingsGreat place to work, very supportive and respectful people. Management recognises and values hard work, encouraging team members to be better through targeted training and development in a positive and inclusive environment. Extremely positive until recent transformative months that lacked leadership in order to guide employees through this period.
The good thingsOffices and equipment are well provided with employee convince in mind. Many long-standing employees are friendly and supportive of newcomers. Processes are well established across the group making navigation easier. Remote working is well supported, and the workforce are very familiar with this.
The challengesThe business is undergoing a lot of change, and this is creating an elongated period of ambiguity for many employees, creating a less than positive work environment. Generally top heavy with management that have larger teams and limited ability to understand individuals' roles, current items in flight, and career development goals. Often leaving team members feeling as though they are a checkbox item for managers. I personally experienced four direct managers within a 9-month period, worked entirely on a separate team to my direct line managers.
