f you value your wellbeing, I strongly advise against working for this toxic organisation. The good thingsLocal-level leaders and care workers are truly remarkable.
The challengesMy experience at Australian Unity was deeply disappointing. Constant restructures and shifting priorities created confusion rather than clarity, with unclear roles, slow decision-making, and limited accountability. Many high-performing leaders and subject-matter experts left due to frustration with senior management and the lack of clear strategic direction, and their departure only increased pressure on those who remained. Cultural issues, including favouritism and limited psychological safety, further eroded trust. While there are still capable and committed people in the organisation, morale is low, and without meaningful reform to leadership accountability, culture, and the operating model, I would not recommend working there.
