LOVED WORKING HERE - However, outgrew the role FAST.
The good thingsgenerally really easy place to work, great alternative to Maccas for a first job.
The challengeshours were hard to come by, I maxed about 6 hours a week most weeks unless someone came down unwell.

Cutting bread, bad customers, little to no shifts.
The good thingsThe free food, cutting bread, when we got to bag up the bad bread and food at the end of the night we eat it before throwing it out.
    The challengesThe shifts aren’t great

Good people bad place to work
The good thingsMy manager was awesome, really stand up guy did what he could for the team, and the team was great we all worked together and got along
The challengesThere is just far too much work than is realistic or reasonable, it was like having 10 hours of work but squeezing it into 8 somehow, you are almost feel penalised for taking brakes and it’s on you to make sure they happen if you don’t get them that’s your problem , don’t expect to have lunch everyday or at least not until the very end, it’s also very clear that upper management don’t care how hard the staff are pushed as long as they get what they want is all that matters

    Horrible management and employee consideration
The good thingsFree food, nice employees, good pay, going home
The challengesExtremely poor management and insufficient training. You're scolded for not being an annoying and pushy salesperson, but if you are a hardworker u get exploited and taken advantage of. I honestly loved the girls and my relationship with the regulars that came in, but (it may have just been my specific location) the management was so cruel, they do not even appreciate the dedicated and hardworking employees and demonstrated clear favouritism. Managament show little care for work-life balance and handled rude customers horribly, showing no care for their workers, which was so disappointing and ruined my whole working experience at the store. I generally would not recommend this business for people to work at, as other businesses actually look after their employees to a much higher degree.

Helpful and positive job for people looking for a first job.
The good thingsI've enjoyed working with different people, learning about different types of bread, and improving my overall skills.
The challengesThe challenges for me was learning the different types of bread, as well as learning how to use the different tills/machines

    The perfect first job
The good thingsA safe, enjoyable, and reliable workplace. The management is excellent - good rostering, communication, and teamwork.
The challengesNo fault of the Bakers I work at, but the amount of bread thrown away across all stores each day is insane!

Working at Bakers Delight has been rewarding, giving me practical skills and teamwork experience.
The good thingsI’ve enjoyed learning hands-on bakery skills, working in a friendly team, and feeling like a key part of daily operations.
The challengesSome shifts can be long and busy, and it can be tough keeping up during peak hours.

Corporate office is under resourced, systems and processes are 20 years behind were they need to be
The good thingsFree lunch (bread and sandwiches) and test product samples in corporate office Social events Nice modern office in Camberwell junction Free underground secure parking for employees at corporate office (lottery) New IT equipment (laptops, screens, meeting rooms) for corporate employees Flexible corporate office work hours 7am- 7pm
The challengesInexperienced management - don't know what they are doing Poor IT and technology knowledge of staff and limited support Under resourced teams for HR, Training, IT, Administration, Compliance Unnecessary complicated and complex processes Too many manual processes and data entry - no automation Outdated, legacy and disconnected systems - no integrations Corporate departments are siloed and don't collaborate Change resistant and no change management in corporate office

A good after school/weekend job if the managers are good
The good thingsTime goes by quick if it's busy and you can make some really good friends with the other staff there.
The challengesThe managers at the Tweed store are horrible and unprofessional, they don't care about their staff at all, they pay you based on how much they like you even if it's under what your age group should be getting, they constantly make rude remarks about you and other staff. Very toxic pick another store

    Completely unprofessional, terrible management.
The good thingsI enjoyed serving the customers and working with the other employees and building good teamwork and connections.
The challengesOverall, Bakers Delight is a good place to work. Though I would not wish the experience I had working with the boss of Bakers Delight in Cheltenham upon my worst enemy. Terrible management, swearing and some physical aggression used toward employees if someone had made a minor stuff up. Disgusting.

I was treated terribly for no reason
The good thingsfellow staff members were nice and friendly, pay rate was good, tasks were nice and simple
The challengesmanagers were not good to staff, start off with lots of shifts and then they just give you nothing, I got fired because I couldn't work Thursdays and Fridays due to Tafe in the last month and I "didn't fit the roster" whereas there are plenty of staff getting favourited and some getting no income

I gained valuable experience in customer service, multitasking, and teamwork while efficiently handling orders, ensuring product quality, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers at Bakers Delight.
The good thingsThe customers were really kind, I also enjoyed learning about the different types of bread that I didn't know about before, it was difficult at first but once I got the hang of it I loved it.
The challengesNot dropping the loafs of bread. Yes, I did drop a couple bread loafs in which I'm not proud of, but everyone makes mistakes which is fine if we learn from them. Another challenge was rushing cutting the bread with the machine while the customers waited.

Uncomfortable, stressful and a terrible environment
The good thingsThe job itself was pretty enjoyable
The challengesThe management, ive never experienced such unfairness and honestly mistreatment before. Looking at the reviews for the particular store I worked at, there are 4 reviews from customers stating that they witnessed the manager yelling at and being condescending to staff in front of them. I even witnessed my manager argue with multiple customers multiple times. Hopefully not all Bakers Delights are like this

I had the most enjoyable time working for Bakers Delight. We were very much a family dynamic and always uplifted each other. We were treated with so much respect and consideration and I absolutely recommend Bakers to every one I meet who is looking for a job.
The good thingsThe good things were the staff treatment, the support that was constantly given, being able to take home leftovers, and being involved with your community and building customer relationships.
The challengesI genuinely don't think I have any challenges that I can recall aside from when I first started and trying to remember all the product names and the difference between toast and sandwich slices, but the team was always so supportive and were always relating to their learning experience which was very comforting.

Often the staff are great, but get ready to complain about your job 24/7
The good thingsYou are able to take home free products
The challengesYour pay will be the minimum wage so don't expect much. Depending on management, you'll have to do more jobs than what you're getting paid to do. Roster and pay may be late. Often at times managers aren't there, meaning you may have to deal with complaining customers yourself.

overall it was a good experience for some cash over the summer and keeping my customer service skills pristine, but i would only advice younger people to work here as a beginners job and work your way up.
The good thingsFree bread, lovely co-workers
The challengesGetting more shifts, at my specific store they would give the more shifts and the longer ones to the younger employees as so to save them money, however it made it difficult for me to obtain more then 2-3 shifts a week.
