Do not work for this company. The amount of hours and hard work you do does not amount to your fortnightly paycheck it’s like working a 9-5 job almost. I was once threatened by another employee and nothing was said or done by management. Communication from managements side is horrible. It’s one of those places, even when in an entry level position if you don’t know something in 5 minutes they just treat you like you are completely stupid. I cannot emphasise this enough, do not work for Barminco I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy.
The good thingsThe work is tough but self rewarding. Other then that this company is absolutely awful I could not emphasise it enough.
The challengesHonestly, Absolutely everything . The pay is awful for the amount of disrespect you receive from people higher than you. Everyone who is higher then you just looks down on you.

Would not recommend Barminco (or any Perenti company) even to my worst enemy.
The good thingsGood workmates, reasonable accommodation/facilities.
The challengesSafety is their lowest priority. Management buck-passing. Blame shifting to the lowest paid person. Ignoring valid machinery safety/maintenance. Poor support to employees following fatal accident on site and denial of any responsibility. Minimum wage = if they could get away with paying less they would. Abusive shift bosses, unless you were in the the purple circle.

You learn something from everywhere you go. I learnt how rubbish they are at maintainance.
The good thingsA few of the people were great , but alas this didnt extend to the people running the place.
The challengesAll they know is breakdown maintainance , everything is re-active and a patch up with whatever. And the purple circle runs deep as. Theres no place to make this place better Unplanned Re-active breakdowns thats it

The challengesPoor management, horrendous safety standards, poor fatigue management implementation.. generally a lot of cut corners and purple circle behaviour.

Enjoyed my stint with Barminco. Their staff and my former work colleagues were an awesome bunch of people. Great support from management, helpful work colleagues. Like I said previously. Work hard and you do just fine. I’d buy the barminco management team at granny smith a beer if I ever cross paths with them again. Cheers for the experience Barminco.
The good thingsWhen you’re out in the mines and away from home and family for set periods of a month each time. You need great people around you. Barminco has exactly that at the Granny Smith gold mine.
The challengesChallenges were more on a personal level with family and home life. Work wise if you’re not afraid of hard work you do just fine.
