Good work environment, great peoplePossibly the best I’ve ever worked.
Only reason for leaving was we couldn’t find a place to live in Brisbane. Even the company was trying and couldn’t get a foot through the door. Job can be challenging but overall rewarding. I will miss this place.

The good thingsPeople is really kind. really good guys working with you.
The challenges3 managers in a year, higher than average turn over of mechanics, the same problems over and over for many months making hard to be happy working there, average salary.

I highly recommend to anyone who would love to get into the car industry to work for BARTONS.
The good thingsThe people you work with...the company as a whole the managers and owner very supportive of all staff.
The challengesMaking sure you have support around you to learn the job role quickly so you can see the results of your hard work. They do provide this but you as a individual need to keep working on yourself to keep developing and improving.

Nov 2019I’m sure Bartons was a great business in 1988.
The good thingsI wish I had one, there were a handful of good people as there are in any business. If work life balance is your main thing they are good for mothers.
The challengesManagement are rigid and not will to make changes, they still manage staff like a bad 1980’s car salesman sitcom.

The good thingsGreat team of people and support from staff and management. Good social events and not just a number you are an actual person here which can be quite rare in the motor industry.

Everything is about making dollars and bending over for customers. Staff are just there for the ride.

"Bending over Backwards" for our Customers is something we take pride in and we would never have it any other way. Our Customers are one of highest priorities, along with our internal customers - which are our Employees.
Sorry you felt like part of a ride, working in the Automotive Industry can have ups and downs and is definitely fast paced - we acknowledge that and not every person can match our speed.

Demanding & challenging but worth every minute.
The good thingsBartons is great for giving me opportunities I would never have had working at McDonald's or Woolworth's. Learning from industry leading professionals through my role has opened my eyes up to what potential is in the world of digital.
The challengesThe fast past changing the environment of the car industry makes it hard to keep up with trends and demands. Time management is a skill that is absolutely necessary and when you switch off for just one day, you feel like you have missed a year's worth of work.

It was good to see that you were part of our career development program as we genuinely take pride in growing our people from within! In regards to our high expectations, you’re right we do like our people to try their hardest each day and sometimes go above and beyond to deliver a level of quality service for our Customers. We are open and honest about what it takes to be part of the Bartons Team and we are realists, by acknowledging that not every person may match those expectations all the time.
You’re correct - turnover of employees in the Automotive Industry can be high with the press claiming some Dealerships experience an average of 25% turnover. Bartons recognised this problem 3 years ago and implemented strategies to reduce turnover of employees and are proud to report quarterly turnover rates as low as 8-12%. This is an ongoing challenge and we try our best.
Lastly, I was confused when I saw your rating for Diversity and Equal Opportunity at Bartons?
