Over my very short career with Boart longyear, I have had the opportunity to work on global projects that will make a difference to the lives of many of our personnel, and I'm sure there are very few companies where in such a short space of time iI would've had these amazing opportunities.
The good thingsAs a global company with a diverse range of services the career opportunities are amazing. It's a fast-paced, competitive industry and Boart is at the head of the pack. Very proud to work for a company with this kind of history behind it and love working with this great group of people!
The challengesIt's truly difficult to think of any.

Good all-round, with the usual drawbacks of a multinational.
The good thingsGave me a start in the industry. Big company with room to move around.
The challengesLost a lot of momentum with company restructuring. Lost the personal touch with the field, becoming a number.

Be careful, they'll suck the life out of you if you let them.
The good thingsDue to the continual churn, opportunities for career advancement become frequently available. Remuneration is good if you are willing to negotiate. Interesting industry with strong characters.
The challengesThe churn. As If the mining cycle doesn't cause enough instability, almost continuous "restructuring" by a near constant change in senior management puts it over the edge. Like working on the edge of a cliff.

smoke and mirrors somes up there approach as a whole
The good thingsThe only thing that came to mind would be receiving your pay which is not the highest in the industry.
The challengesMajor agency problems in middle management, inexperienced leaders with an inability to implement change to better the company. Any change may be seen as advance on someone elses position. Company appears to have no direction other than on underground drilling, was the largest drilling company in AUS at one point in the past 10 years, however agency problems and the poor direction have seen it be overtaken.
