A rewarding experience with great teamwork, variety, and growth opportunities.
The good thingsI’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to engage with a diverse group of students and staff, which has helped me build strong communication and interpersonal skills. I’ve also appreciated the supportive team environment where colleagues are always willing to collaborate and share knowledge, making day-to-day work enjoyable. Additionally, I’ve enjoyed the variety in tasks and responsibilities, as it keeps the role dynamic and allows me to develop new skills continuously.
The challengesSome shifts can finish quite late in the evening, which can be tiring at times. Finding a way to manage these late finishes more evenly could help improve work-life balance.

    Poor management and high turnover
The good thingsSalary was above average
The challengesThey advertise free staff car park but unfortunately no spot allocated for staff. First come first serve. Poor management, unfair rostering, high turnover of staff, and when staff issues arose the management doesn’t address it straight away.

Top tier company to work for, the people are the best part but there are plenty of monetary, social and health perks to enjoy as well. Everyone is friendly and your colleagues really get to know and support you. Gives you a sense of belonging.
The good thingsGreat colleagues. Good salary. Flexible and understanding management. Lots of perks - leave loading, good wage growth, award incentives, free parking, onsite fitness centre you can salary sacrifice, wellness expos, free career development centre, good food outlets.
The challengesBeing a small university you need to be flexible and occasionally punch above your weight in terms of work capacity, but if you can handle it, it helps you develop new skills and branch out

Not the worst but could be so much better
The good thingsAlways something happening, fun lunch breaks, Medical available.
The challengesNegative staff culture, not encouraging or caring. Very clicky. I was hoping for a inspiring team which would support growth and learning.. this isn't that place. Students can be extremely rude and staff aren't supported.

An exceptionally rewarding journey, offering a dynamic and innovative work environment, an amazing culture, and leaves you with a deep sense of pride in contributing to the transformative education of students.
The good thingsAmazing culture, great teams and talented colleagues, vibrant and inclusive work environment, great emphasis on innovation and pushing boundaries, invigorating to be part of an institution that encourages creativity and forward-thinking. I deeply appreciate the focus on student-centred learning and small class sizes allowing for personal attention. Profound sense of community. Positive work-life balance for staff, with professional development opportunities, wellness programs, and flexible work arrangements. An extremely healthy and productive workplace culture, with little office politics. The campus itself is a testament to the uni's commitment to providing a world-class experience -- beautiful natural setting with breathtaking architecture and state-of-the-art facilities. The campus exudes a sense of serenity and inspires staff and students alike to strive for greatness.
The challengesBeing a small university with a high staff to student ratio, staff must balance multiple responsibilities, and with a three-semester academic calendar, meeting deadlines can be demanding especially during peak periods such as exam/assessment times, or with numerous projects taking place simultaneously. Given that Bond maintains a reputation for excellence, staff members are expected to consistently deliver high-quality work, which can sometimes create pressure to perform at a consistently high standard.

    Enjoyable experience working at Bond.
The good thingsNot having to pay for car parking was wonderful. Really good to have a gym and medical centre on campus - made my work/life balance so much better. Had a great team environment and really enjoyed the people I worked with.
The challengesPersonally not too much negative, left due to relocation for partners company.

Best so far in my career
The good thingsBrilliant culture in my department, lots of flexibility, professional development, caring people
The challengesIt's a service delivery environment with no government funding - private not-for-profit is a different environment to other universities with pros and cons of that.

Disappointing experience, needs to focus on transparency in their processes, team culture and recognition of talent/skills.
The good thingsGreat facilities, some awesome people with lots of passion, interesting and rewarding work at times, lots of room for continuous improvement and ability to leave your mark (if allowed). Gym/health services are great too, access to local cafes and restaurants too.
The challengesBad management and skill development, overly bureaucratic and outdated processes, resistance to change and lack of innovation, toxic team culture and support.

    Small University Big Challenges
The good thingsGreat work culture in immediate office. Good systems for efficiency. The built environment.
The challengesLack of focus, vision and unity across all the offices, facilities and departments. Inflexible role development. The bureaucracy. The crushing amount of debt students have for decades after they graduate.

    Pretty much disgusted.
The good thingsLocation, campus, and gym. This could have been a really good university but for the administration that took hold in the early days and wouldn't let go.
The challengesVery poor management ... authoritarian - cronyism rules! They do not understand how to management people let alone put fair and equitable systems in place. There is a lot going on here that is simply wrong.
