Highpoint was a high point in my working life
The good thingsI enjoyed the banter between support workers and participants. The regular staff who knew the participant’s needs inside and out, going above and beyond for them to make their days Brighter.
The challengesCommunication between staff members could improve, with staff showing up to shift on time for a better handover.

Newcastle, Maitland & Hunter NSW1 to 2 years in the role, current employee
A decent paying, low effort job that is only made difficult by the lack of any training, guidance, support or feedback from management.
The good thingsPay in line with award specifications. Easy 1:1 work supporting individual clients rather than large numbers of clients.
The challengesLack of any management guidance or supervision. You’re on your own with no instructions and the only time you hear from a manager is if you’ve done something wrong, or in the weekly company newsletter where the managers talk about themselves and pat each other on the back. Training is way below the bare minimum. You will be working with staff who have no idea about anything disability or health related and will have to basically look after your co-workers on shift as well as the clients.
