Brisbane North PHN - Contributing to the Mental Health wellbeing of the community in a supportive environmentWorking at Brisbane North PHN has provided me with the invaluable opportunity to re-engage with the primary care and community mental health sectors, which are fundamental to the wellbeing of individuals across the Brisbane North region but also at State and National levels. I have been proud to be associated with an organisation that consistently contributes meaningfully to these vital areas of healthcare. As an employer, Brisbane North PHN places a high priority on staff wellbeing, fostering a supportive environment that encourages learning and development and offers flexible working conditions. These attributes combine to make Brisbane North PHN a highly valued and rewarding workplace.

    Supportive but fast paced workplace
The good thingsIn my experience a supportive culture where people genuinely care for one another and are invested in each other’s success. We're lucky to have a CEO who values the team not just as professionals, but as people—fostering open communication, inclusion, and appreciation.
The challengesWhile the culture is incredibly supportive, the pace can be fast and priorities may shift quickly. Workload distribution can sometimes be uneven across the team.

Working here has been rewarding, with a positive and inclusive environment that makes me feel valued.
The good thingsThe culture here is super positive, inclusive, and people are genuinely supportive of each other. The leadership team is approachable — they really take the time to listen and care about their people. It’s one of those workplaces where you feel comfortable being yourself and valued.
The challengesLike any workplace, there are challenges — things move fast and priorities can shift. But what makes a real difference here is the supportive culture and everyone’s willing to help, listen and find solutions,

    Best organisation I've worked for
The good thingsGreat benefits/perks including professional development and birthday cake. There is a genuine desire from staff across all levels to make a difference. Really great flexible working options such as accrued days off, flexible start and finish times and WFH.
The challengesDecisions/funding often driven by Government, would be nice to have more autonomy to use funds to address emerging local needs - this is a system issue though not an organisational one. There is a resistance to change among some long term staff but other than that there is a great culture and everyone is really helpful and supportive.

A place where you are happy to come to work each day
The good thingsThe people I work with are wonderful and the management is extremely supportive. All in all a great place to work
The challengesAs a not for profit the salary is not always the best in the market but in saying that other more lifestyle things make up for any shortfall. Sometimes Government decisions can have an impact as well.
