Coffs Harbour NSW 24502 to 3 years in the role, former employee
Management lacks the skills and knowledge needed to run the workplace effectively
The good thingsI enjoyed working with a few team members and my pay was usually correct without any discrepancies
The challengesThe current management is failing. This place needs a complete overhaul If you’re not friends with management, you’re treated like an outsider. Leadership opportunities aren’t offered fairly and concerns or disclosures are often swept under the rug Conflicts of interest are not addressed as several members of management are close friends and some are even in personal relationships

A disappointing experience marked by poor leadership, lack of development opportunities, and an abrupt, poorly handled redundancy.
The good things- Supportive colleagues - Reasonable workload in most areas
The challenges- Unprofessional behaviour from senior manager - Redundancy felt poorly managed and lacking transparency - No acknowledgment for contributions - Poor communication from leadership - No professional development opportunities

    Support Worker
    Jan 2024
Katherine & Northern Australia NT1 to 2 years in the role
I did the right thing by the youth that were in care, but very hard with the type of employees that are constantly recruited.
The good thingsThe children in the residential care.
The challengesOther support workers and their lack of experience and laziness. Most of them have second or third jobs so they are tired when on shift. They leave shift early or arrive late and cover for each other. These workers are at work but not "present". Lack of supportive management.

I've seen both good and bad with the company since I started, but upper management have made huge strides in improving overall quality of work life. I can not wait to see how far growth goes.
The good thingsThey treat you like a person, not an employee which is reflected in the benefits and how management approaches employees. The management is doing a great job of leading by example. The team is incredibly diverse and comes from all different types of backgrounds, which allows for even more learning to take place due to the variety of perspectives.
The challengesThe company is still growing and it creates a very scrappy, inspiring environment. Everyone is putting in their all and working so hard, and there is always more learning to be done!

At Caspa you work with a supportive group of employees and always have the opportunity to upskill.
The good thingsCASPA are a great company to work for. Caspa support their staff and are always encouraging them to upskill. As an employee of Caspa for over a year and a half, I have been made to feel valued and encouraged. I have always been able to approach the team and managers with any problems or concerns I have had.
The challengesThe young people in our care have complex needs and have been through a range of trauma. Some of their behaviors' can be difficult to work with at times but through time and the great support of Caspa you learn to understand these behaviors and how to help the young people deal with these behaviors and their big emotions.

They have matched action with words, when they say we will support our employees, they are actually doing it.
The good thingsCASPA provide opportunity for everyone to learn and improve. Staff support from management is excellent and second to none.
The challengesCASPA is new in NT, and still at the point of establishment. Sometimes, it may take a while to get things sorted. However, senior management staff are always very responsive whenever their attention is drawn to issues.

My work with Caspa started with what I thought was a spur of the moment phase, along the way my attitudes, beliefs and identity have evolved and shaped my career direction and ultimately life’s journey. I thoroughly recommend joining our family.
The good thingsMy time at Caspa has been a wonderful journey of self discovery. Right from the beginning, paid training was provided that focuses on trauma, communication and healthy relationships. This has been invaluable for my life and formed the bedrock of my knowledge and understanding in my career. Working closely with children has been highly rewarding and I have formed meaningful relationships that provide a deep source of pride and responsibility. This has only been possible due to the incredible and all encompassing support provided by Caspa at an organisational level and at a personal level by all of the employees including every level of management up to the CEO. Caspa cares about the children first and foremost and they understand that to have healthy children they need happy staff. Above award wages are paid including an extra 16,000 tax free each year from salary sacrifice, free gym membership at multiple locations, in house and external counselling and ample opportunity for career development. On top of this great care is taken to provide flexible work contracts and rosters that cater to individual lifestyles and work/life balances.
The challengesWorking with children can be challenging at times, no doubt everything worthwhile is, the difference with Caspa is their unique culture and strict professionalism creates a safe and structured place to communicate, work through and ultimately grow from issues.

Amazing, encouraging, and something that I want to be a part of for a long time to come.
The good thingsThe diversity of the teams are amazing, everyone is treated equally and encouraged to be their unique selves. It is a rewarding yet also challenging experience working with out of home care children with complex trauma and backgrounds which in itself is worthwhile. There is so much support from every angle of the company to ensure that everyone is okay and being their best self to manage the work we have. There is countless opportunities for career progression.
The challengesLearning the therapeutic side of the job as it can sometimes be different to your own knowledge. However is such an amazing bit of knowledge to learn, and becomes life long skills that can help in your home life also.
