The company's management was pretty bad and only handful managers could do their jobs properly.
The good thingsYou can have a good experience as a support worker's duties and care. All the clients were really appreciative and you feel so rewarded.
The challengesThe management and roster team were disorganised. Support workers were always the victim of their mismanagement and stuck between clients and company's miscommunications.

To be avoided. Perhaps a good start for someone inexperienced or uneducated but not for anyone with experience, options or anyone professional.
The good thingsFair wages, 'some' good staff and management.
The challengesGossiping, bickering, backbiting. Ineffective or non-existent measures to correct it.

Please source another agency to work for.
The good thingsThere is nothing good to describe with this company
The challengesCentacare continually put workers in significant danger with limited risk and safety tools implemented. Management is in Brisbane with irregular visits and understanding of the housing program in the fraser coast region, This allowed the housing manager to run her own show. The work culture is horrendous with significant staff turn over and gossip.

Until new management came in and long term staff left in extremely high volumes the job was great. The new upper management team have created a toxic environment.
The good thingsKnocking off for the day, colleagues, leaving Centacare
The challengesManagement, they have no understanding are unapproachable, do not uphold the company motto of ‘care is our calling’ Upper management hired friends to fill higher positions and make decisions that are detrimental to ground level staff and clients

    Unprofessional. Not good for employees.
The good thingsThe clients. Some of the staff but those ones were smart enough to move on. I can't really say anything else.
The challengesHR is an absolute mess. Very unprofessional. Highly unorganised. Promise but never delivery. High staff turnover within the company in general - what does that tell you?

Unfortunate that this role didn’t live up to my expectations.
The good thingsClients are overall lovely and grateful for support. Good training at commencement of role (a weeks worth of paid training). Some of the managers/staff were nice and genuinely care.
The challengesEmployed as a support worker but they have a LOT of domestic assistance shifts. You feel like a cleaner more than a support worker at this organisation. At times you can clean up to five homes a day in very hot conditions- most clients do not put the fans/air-conditioning on or sometimes even open their windows. Pay is substandard and not competitive with other organisations. Staff turnover is high which can impact morale. Shifts can be all over the place (lots of driving) and you can have breaks of an hour and a half/two hours etc. in between clients.

When you say that you are on light duties you can’t basically do anything as most of the task in this job is all physical. When I first started I did not expect the cleaning part of it as they expect you to clean like a professional Cleaner. The pay is too low as you don’t get the hours. Terrible management and managers. I won’t be wasting my time working for this company.
The good thingsYou get to know the clients and have a break in between jobs. You know that a difference has been made once you leave the client’s home.
The challengesThe domestic Assistance is difficult in Summer as it is too hot. Driving around is tiring too Management is horrible

The good thingsInduction training very thorough and got some useful experience
The challengesTOXIC blame culture, constant issues with pay not being right very unfair and management lack the skills to support staff with their workloads. Extremely high staff turnover in Moreton Bay region due to burnout and lack of support which ultimately puts client care at risk. Managers who gaslight you instead of supporting if you have a problem and find a reason to blame you instead of taking on any constructive feedback. You spend your day filling in endless paperwork and cleaning rather that providing support to the clients.

    Horrible management in Brisbane North
    The good thingsClients are lovely.
The challengesPoor, ignorant and arrogant leadership in Northside. Very bad management skills, lack of training, worst team leaders, toxic environment. Management do not care and support staff. They can just keep workers on the road to do services and don't really care what they need. There is no chance for career development. Management avoid conflicts and do not listen to you.

Until recently when management changed over on the Northside of Brisbane, it was a great place to work for. Now, I am just a number. Not a person. Not many employees enjoy working under the new management which took place nearly 4 years ago.
The good thingsThe location is good. Clients are lovely. I work knowing i get to deal with these clients.
The challengesManagement have no compassion. It's disappointing really.
