I truly believe I was never given a fair chance or an environment where I could succeed.
The good thingsAbsolutely loved learning about the property selling process from listing to settlement. The property managment team was such a lovely group of women.
The challengesI don’t usually speak up about negative experiences, but I wanted to share mine in the hope it brings clarity for others. I started a trainee admin role with genuine excitement, especially as it was advertised for people with no prior experience. However, early on I often had very little work and felt uncertain about my progress. The person training me was consistently blunt and difficult to approach, which slowly affected my confidence despite my efforts to learn, take notes, and be proactive.
When I later covered reception and felt I was finally finding my rhythm, I was unexpectedly let go. I asked for feedback but received only vague comments that didn’t relate to my admin work, and I never received further clarification. The experience impacted me deeply, and it took time to rebuild my confidence. Since moving into a new role, I’ve realised how much a supportive environment matters and how differently I perform when I feel encouraged and respected.
