Interesting / in my view they should not be in Fin Planning
The good thingsGood that ASIC is all over them as you learn heaps. What to do and what not to do.
The challengesCFP have great rules but a culture of not following the rules they put in place. ie They say one thing and do another. People in the bank who do not work in Fin planning have no idea what a Fin planner does or how a planner adds value to the client, but most of them don't realise they have no idea.

I liked working in the bank. However, royalty and hard work doesn't mean anything. Only the number.
The good thingsMulti Culture and very friendly environment. flexible working suites for the family.
The challengesIt's a bit tough to change different direction. It is also who you know as well.

I'd never work for a bank again in a role as a financial adviser.
The good thingsThe friends you make with the staff. Excluding the manages.
The challengesYou have to work 14 hours a day to get anywhere. And it will eventually run you down. The sales culture is horrid. The KPI's are never ending.

    Regional Financial Planner

Lack of understanding on job pressures.
The good thingsPart of a large banking institution, which means access to other opportunities in metro areas.
The challengesDifficult in regional areas where opportunities are limited and sales expectations high. Very much focused on revenue outcomes rather than genuinely meeting customers needs. Managers with no financial planning background cannot help with time management issues.
