    A role that you are proud of, that requires resilience and passion.
    The good thingsThe company has focused on propelling itself to become a key player in the sector. With that comes improvements and this is what has been enjoyable over the last few years. There have been some great projects and growth areas that employees are able to participate in. The mission is one to be proud of. And the people are great.
    The challengesAs above, there have been constant improvements to become a better housing provider. There has been a shift in management and focus on building more competent business units to better service the customer base. Well done and keep going.

    Ideaology of business is great, just seems to miss the mark in practice.
    The good thingsLocal team were lovely and supportive. Very rewarding when being able to find sustainable housing for clients.

    Like any job there is good times and bad times. Don’t trust people is all I can say goodluck :)
    The good thingsThere’s some good people that want to achieve good things for the community. If you do as your told and don’t ask questions you’ll get somewhere.
    The challengesManagement is not supportive they are always looking out for what you have done wrong. Also managers state that CHL IS NOT A CHARITY. I thought that was odd… registered “Charity”

    Disappointed, as I gave my all during my contract and was looking forward to a permanent role with them as a housing officer.
    The good thingsGreat team of housing officers and great organization to work for during my contract.
    The challengesContract for 6 mths, told I was great employee and they would hire me again, but when I applied for permanent work, I was told I was not qualified enough. Since then they have advertised 2 more positions, but I have not bothered to apply due to the previous disappointment with applying for housing officer role.

    The good thingsOffice is close to good coffee , 90% of the people are good to work with
    The challengesUndertrained , underperforming management so they tend to be reactive + micromanage . Never enough staff and high turn over of staff , people last less than 12 months in most roles. No one has experience to train others.

    Amazing career progression, further learning and development opportunities, healthy work/life balance, however cliquey management, low salary and high expectations.
    The good thingsCareer progression if you put in the work to succeed, further learning & development, healthy work/life balance, flexible working arrangements, close team environment with relationships extending to the wider organisation. Non-for-profit so salary sacrifice is a huge benefit and being able to make a difference in the local and national community.
    The challengesSalary... Very low salary. In my experience, always expected to perform at a higher level than your position description. Management love tackling new opportunities/projects but do not expand the team to help with increased work flow. Cliquey within management.

    Loved it, community housing rules!
    The good thingsThis is an organisation with great diversity and without any noticeable ageism, gender or ethnic imbalance. Good, well-meaning, friendly staff are present at every level and there is a sense of community and mission. There can be a tremendous variety of work and operating independence for some, while others are stuck with mundane jobs, but everybody does their best in providing something really worthwhile for the community, I hardly met a person I didn't like or who wasn't cooperative and hard-working.
    The challengesIt's a one-man show and management (often operating remotely) are struggling to make the transfer to a fully corporate environment. Profit rate is very low and as for the sector s a whole, money is seldom there to meet everyone's high ambitions for the community. It hurts to turn away people in real need.
