Poor management but great local team culture
The good thingsThe culture of the perth team is great, along with the interactions with the customer base
The challengesManagement is based over east and whilst they say it is a family run business they are trying to manage this whilst at the same time being a large company. processes are rubbish, too many people making conflicting decisions without communication with each other and ultimately putting the customer last. service has decreased over the years and management do not have a clue but to blame both customers and customer facing staff

Working for Complete Office Supplies Positives include good people, free monthly lunches and overtime if wanted. Negatives include an overload of incoming goods, minimal room to store product and lack of training.

People & Culture TeamThanks so much for your review and for being part of the COS team. We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the people around you and the little extras like monthly lunches and optional overtime, we love creating a workplace that brings people together. We also appreciate you flagging the challenges you faced around storage, incoming goods, and training. These are areas we are always actively working on, and your feedback helps highlight areas where we need to focus our efforts. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience.

My experience at COS has been highly rewarding, characterised by a supportive, family-oriented culture, strong growth opportunities, and a genuine commitment to employee well-being.
The good things1) It truly feels like a family business, where you’re treated as a family member and fully supported. The emphasis on 'family' is at the heart of the company’s ethos and culture, which is refreshingly unique. 2) It feels great to work for a genuinely Australian-owned family business that directly supports local jobs and the economy. 3) Most employees (excluding newcomers) have been here for over a decade, reflecting the company’s commitment to retaining and nurturing top talent. 4) Management is approachable, supportive, and genuinely cares about employee well-being. 5) Excellent employee benefits, including: • Birthday leave • Work-from-home setup budget • Learning & development budget (for job-relevant courses) • Monthly catered lunches …. just to name a few. 6) Plenty of opportunities for growth, with a strong focus on promoting internally, empowering employees to take on new challenges and advance without having to leave. 7) The company’s genuine commitment to mental health is impressive, standing in stark contrast to most companies that offer only lip service in this area. 8) Unlike many corporations that outsource everything, COS thrives with its in-house IT, Dev, customer service, and other support teams, fostering control and collaboration. 9) Most importantly, the people here are kind, friendly, helpful, and caring, making work less stressful and more enjoyable. I believe this is a direct result of all the positive factors I’ve mentioned above. Note: All this information is accurate as of 9 January 2025. Past performance is not indicative of future performance.
The challengesHaven't encountered any major challenges so far. Any challenges I've faced have been minor and easily manageable/resolved.

Fulfilling and supportive environment. Where you can bring your authentic self to work, and where you can be supported to excel and develop.
The good thingsVery authentic company and colleagues. Everyone cares and supports each other to succeed.
The challengesNavigating the intricate landscape of office supplies tender periods demands resilience and adaptability, yet the gratification of forging meaningful connections and achieving targets makes it profoundly rewarding.

Has potential to be a better than average workplace however need to create some urgency in working through the MANY growing pains!
The good thingsRecent leadership changes at this family owned company who try hard! Onboarding started off well early days then fell away... Have a training budget (for each staff) which permits some input by staff how it is used.
The challengesLack of structure throughout entire Sydney DC (chaotic), no safety resources which is all thrown onto operations teams despite large workloads! HR team do not have a framework and experience high turnover. No help to managers. Few good IT systems developed in house however are regularly experiencing 'bugs' and the key people in business to help are swamped/ unable to offer any help!

Generally enjoyable work experience unfortunately outweighed by over bearing local manager and generally unachievable commission structure.
The good thingsWork/life balance. Excellent senior management team - family owned business.
The challengesMicro management from local manager was excessive - to the point where I eventually moved jobs. Sales commission scheme was generally unachievable.
