Good for a first job, not much opportunity
The good thingsNot much good to say about it, it was my first job so gave me working experience.
The challengesthe boss wasn't nice to work for, $8p/h, little toddler stool that i had to sit on for 8 hours oiling pans then would complain there not done fast enough. Would also not pay me for my last shift. Good for a first job but thats about it.

Best team I've ever worked with.
The good thingsTraining was done online in own time as well as in store on shift. Head office had plenty of positive contact with all the staff giving us faces to names and making us feel valued and comfortable. I was working in a store which had closed down, been refurbished and opened up with new staff, from the open day and business took off so well that more staff were being hired very quickly. Despite limited availability thanks to juggling two casual jobs and studying, I did get at least one decent length shift during the three days/wk I could have worked. Ability for staff to be flexible between positions to lend help where possible if an area is momentarily struggling under the work load.
The challengesVery fast paced environment can make it hard to learn the ropes if, like me, you need to get hands on experience to remember for next time. Time pressure can seem impossible to handle.

    A waste of time
The good thingsThe people you work with if not who you work for.
The challengesInsurmountable. Constant stock shortages. Equipment in the work environment is inadeqaute or needs replacement. All leading to a stressfull experience and poor customer service.

The good thingsThe great team members, the great customers you got to communicate with, the amount of fun and laughter you're able to have.
The challengesWhen busy it gets a little messy, the after clean of a very busy night keeps you there for hours.

    My favourite job
The good thingsMy managers were so nice and great to talk to on slow nights. Everyone I worked with did well and were also fun people. Our managers never yelled at us when we screwed up, they were always nice and showed us the proper way, if they ever did yell that's when we knew we really messed up! :)
The challengesLearning how to make all the pizzas without having to look at the pizza chart was probably the hardest task of all. Next to that would be taking phone orders, because they are top priority and you never know who you are going to speak with. Some people are nasty.

    It was a nightmare!
The good thingsfree food!!! when ever there would be a mistake wit someones order and we would have to remake it, often there would be a selection of pizzas to choose from, hollandaise source on a butchers block was the best!
The challengesBringing myself to work....especailly on cheap Tuesdays!, anyone that has ever worked in the pizza industry on a cheap Tuesday would tell you it the worst thing ever, making it worse two juniors called in sick and the boss isn't coming in because he has his boat club meeting on the last Tuesday of every month.

A poor business model that relies on managers and store owners to carry whilst any real earnings go directly to franchise head office.

I loved my time at Eagle Boys, but I am not so sure what the culture and environment would be like now.
The good thingsWhen I was at Eagle Boys it was a young, fun and collaborative company. We worked really hard but also had a lot of fun. There were great company benefits such as your birthday off and bread and fruit provided. I was promoted during my time and my hard work was always rewarded and noticed.
The challengesSadly things went downhill as far as company culture is concerned. Key managers and staff were made redundant, poor business decisions were made and in general the retail food industry really suffered in terms of profitability. A lot of the franchises really did it tough and as a result large numbers of stores sadly closed.

A great first job that will teach you valuable life skills.
The good thingsI worked at Eagle Boys for over 4 years, I worked full time hours while studying uni. The operating hours allowed for a great work/life balance and while this would change from store to store ours had fantastic discounts for staff.
The challengesCustomer complaints are the biggest challenge however staff are given tools and strategies to help with this. The actual work is easy, nothing overly straining.

    Not the greatest
The good thingsThe good things were it pays decent, so \"if\" you worked a lot you'd come home with a good weeks pay.
The challengesWorking there was a challenge in itself, half the staff were still in school, including the supervisors and lacked time management, made it an absolutely horrible experience for delivery drivers.

    Fantastic first job.
The good thingsIt was a really fun working environment. I had this job while I was working in school, and management were really good with working around school activities. I learnt a lot about customer service, which I think is an invaluable skill for anyone.
The challengesWhen it was busy the environment could get quite stressful, which meant that everyone would get a little worked up. It was challenging to try to keep your cool, while still focusing well and getting the job done.
