    No power being a manager.
The good thingsEasy job as there is not much you can do do as with limited options available.
The challengesManagement intervention and toxic staff members.

There are plenty of better options out there
The good thingsThe people I worked with on the floor
The challengesManagers in 'support office' are more worried about taking each others jobs than running a healthy company. Only concerned about numbers than building a strong culture and safe work environment. If anything needs fixing, you have to prove it in the numbers, forget the fact that you need it to run the business.. You will be asked to do everything outside of your job description with no compensation, and you will do extra hours with no recognition or appreciation. Team morale is so low because management at all levels lack vision, real leadership skills and professionalism. Everything is performative so they can push someone else out for the next promotion. Don't waste your time here, you won't get any career growth or development no matter what level you start at. Forget about a work/life balance. You will constantly be called to fill shifts or for something else work-related.

“All good things must come to an end”
The good thingsThe Environment was very friendly. In the early days the team was great. Then after couple years did start to go down the hill.
The challengesBefore the New Senior Management start (Base in Melbourne) everybody was happy and team players. Then all the senior staff started to leave the company due to a new philosophy of profit and no respect for the individuals.

Company without a sane structure. It all seems random and thrown together, much like a uni project. First hand understood what how upper management refer to floor positions, they do not appreciate, train or upskill their staff and several times refer to them as 'nobodies', no wonder why the turnover rate is so high! Save yourself the worst couple months of your life and move onto the next offer.
The good thingsFloor staff are mostly positive and supportive of each other
The challengesManagement simply has no clue on priorities. They run their businesses in a mediocre manner, where overworking their staff is their baseline. No one follows their job descriptions, and you are expected to get out of your duties to fix whatever is necessary.

If you plan to stay for only 1-2 months, that's fine. But if you're considering something long-term, I wouldn't recommend it. This job posting has been up for about six months now. Makes you wonder why, doesn’t it?
The good thingsWell, life lesson? Working here has shown me how important good management is and why businesses that genuinely care about their employees succeed.
The challengesIt always feels like new staff are prioritised over people who have been here longer. They're constantly short-staffed, yet management acts like they don't know why it's happening. I wish management understood that treating staff this way affects how they treat the venue and customers, too.

Stressful work environment. Wage was based on Restaurant Awards - If you’re at a level below Supervisor, the pay rate for Saturdays and Sundays is the same.
The good thingsStaff discount for food and coffee
The challengesWorking at Emirates was really interesting. Management had a unique way of handling things, often making decisions that kept everyone guessing. It felt like they had their own interpretation of work ethics and labor policies. I just wanna say it was a masterclass in testing patience and adaptability

    Disappointing
The good thingsHonestly, there weren’t many positives, but most of the regular staff (not management) were super supportive and always ready to help each other out.
The challengesIt was a pretty good place to work until the management changed. After that, the leadership went downhill—unprofessional, unfair, and not supportive at all. A bunch of great people ended up leaving, but upper management just ignored the real problems and brushed it off as personal drama.

Despite the challenges, the majority of the longstanding staff consistently demonstrate dedication and diligence in their work, contributing significantly to the organization's success.
The good thingsMostly of the team is good and friendly
The challengesFirstly, the absence of clear instructions from management has been a recurring issue. Without a clear roadmap or guidance on tasks and expectations, employees often find themselves unsure of how to proceed, leading to inefficiencies and frustration. Moreover, the dearth of constructive feedback has been disheartening. Without regular input on our performance, it's challenging to gauge our progress or identify areas for improvement. This lack of feedback not only stunts personal growth but also contributes to a sense of disconnect from management. Perhaps most concerning is the widespread lack of motivation among the team. Without clear direction or acknowledgment of our efforts, employees struggle to find purpose and enthusiasm in their work.

Confusing. Made some good friends though and got another job at the airport through connections.
The good thingsThe team I worked with.
The challengesRecent changes at executive level has been toxic, lots of fear in the business. Unrealistic expectations and little to no help with staffing venues which leaves us giving poor guest experience. Senior leadership pretends they care when they are showing clients or managers around the venue but otherwise you don’t hear from them. Pity.

Feels like you're nit getting paid enough for what you take on
The good thingsYou get to meet several different people working in the airport and the teams you get to work with are lovely
The challengesThe management. No care for employees or customers health and safety. Next to know values or standards. Only interested in revenue. Disappointing for a 'prestigious' company

if you care about food safety, RSA standards, or a positive work culture, probably look somewhere else.
The good thingsMeet some amazing people, and most the general staff are great.
The challengesmanagement are only out to reach goals set by head office, no matter the physical, mental, or emotional cost to the staff. spoken to, treated and even told that staff are replaceable. huge turnover of staff means there's always new people to train. some of the venues have little to no care for food safety, often continuing to sell out of date products, stored in dirty containers or mouldy cabinets. if you try to take initiative and do things that you think could be done, you get told off by management who are super controlling.
