Quantity over quality - mind numbing corporate environment.
The good thingsThe colleagues you meet during training and being able to work from home.
The challengesManagement - they only care about hitting numbers/KPI's. If you care about quality over quanitity and genuinely want to help people, this job is not for you.

You risk moral injury working at EML. I wouldn't treat a dog the way EML treats employees & clients.
The good thingsTeam leaders, group managers and senior execs will never be punished or held accountable for their actions, policies, procedures, instructions and directions - including the official and unofficial ones. Case managers are a different story.
The challengesEML treats its employees the same way it treats clients - like a number, a liability and someone to be screwed financially, especially if they speak up or complain about their legal rights. I couldnt cope with the guilt and shame of being made by EML to treat vulnerable in ways that are completely contradictory to safe and ethical case management practices. EML doesn't want employees with empathy, intelligence and allied health experience. They want lemmings willing to work in a call centre environment and who will blindly follow orders to do whatever it takes to get the result that EML wants. The workload was relentless, unrealistic, inequitable and unsustainable. Assigned caseloads required excessive unpaid overtime. EML only acts, even only superficially and temporarily when it risks a Workcover claim from its very own employees. Its easy to understand why EML has such a high turnover of case managers every month. Anyone with morals and ethics doesn't stay at EML for long.

The worst place I have ever worked in this life and the next
The good thingsI wrote "Quitting" but Seek require a 20 character minimum
The challengesEMHELL will repetedly ram the phrase "A great place to work" down your throat until you are brainwashed enough you believe it. The whole place is a weird cult vibe. Just like when Homer Simpson joins The Stonecutters and chant "na na na na na leader!" but with the aforementioned crock and it's not fun. They do have end of month office drinks, but they limit it to two per person. Which is like getting a little morsel of food under the table for being a good dog. Speaking of the management they gather their own lil clique of crawlers just to hear how 'great' management are. You are reguarly and repeatedly yelled at by heros on the other end of the phone. All while never taking into consideration we have their personal information and that they have no idea who's on the other end. EML do offer a decent entry level salary, but the amount of extra things you have to do for people on your caseload is just shy of chewing their food for them. It's simply not worth it.

Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I hadn't met anyone there who loved what they do.
The good thingsThey will accept anyone because they can't keep staff, so it's good to get in and get some experience for something better.
The challengesManagement is mostly lazy and horrible. It wasn't an uncommon sight to see people walking to bathroom crying whether that be due to workload or management, working ridiculous overtime without pay to keep up with the ridiculous workload.

my overall experience was impacted by unsustainable workloads and a lack of adequate support.
The good thingsThe flexibility of working from home three days a week was a definite positive, and I was fortunate to work alongside genuinely kind and supportive colleagues who made a challenging role more manageable. However, the overall experience was impacted by high workloads and limited support structures, which made it difficult to maintain wellbeing in the long term.
The challengesI would caution prospective applicants to carefully consider the support structures in place before accepting a role here. During my time, I was responsible for a caseload that was significantly above industry standards, with minimal supervision or debriefing opportunities. Despite working with clients presenting complex and high-risk needs, there was little to no regular check-in or wellbeing support for staff. The workload was so demanding that even working weekends didn’t allow me to stay on top of responsibilities. Unfortunately, this led to burnout and a significant impact on my personal wellbeing. I hope future improvements are made to ensure staff are adequately supported in such a challenging environment. The motto of the company is 'We help get people's life's back' but impair the staff's wellbeing while doing so.

You go in thinking you can help people regain their lives in some form when what you do is stop this from happening because of management.
The good thingsOh dear, nothing about the job but a few people were nice
The challengesThe revolving door hits you! Since January in the team I was in there have been 7 people leave from the team due to a manager who manipulates to suit their own wellbeing.

No a good place to work as they look at you as a number and no training and no career advancement. When they do not need you because of annual budget limitations, they let you go.
The good thingsNothing is good , except monthly office drink
The challengesCurrent DBA and DBA manager are no good at their jobs and always asked me to document what I know and what I do so they can learn from me.

Don’t do it, unless you are prepared to give up your self-worth, mental health, soul, time, morals and conscience.. inform yourself. Read the reviews (other than the glowing reviews by the HR / Talent employees). There’s a revolving door of staff in every EML office for a reason.
    The good thingsSome nice colleaagues.
The challengesEverything else. The company’s ruthless pursuit of profits. Total disregard for the mental health of employees and the injured workers who the company was being paid to manage. Excessive workload and KPIs. Long term employees were disrespectful and unethical conduct towards injured workers. I left.

Really inconsistent, make it up as you go vibe. Shortest role I have held, was not prepared to risk waiting around to see there was improvement.
The good thingsHybrid roles available, convenient if you are over the commute.
The challengesThey know opportunity in region is limited, on job expectations are much higher than your job description as result of this. Internal issues are ignored causing additional stress to a role that is already with pressures. Someone is always leaving the company.

Do the math. RDO’s are not free you have accrued the time, to then work more hours to clear tasks to take the day off.Leave is accrued, to again have to work ahead to prepare for, often with overtime needed to then come back to find bare minimum was done while away and you are back in the cycle of trying to catch up to work ahead which is more overtime.Leave becomes recovery time and not time to relax as it should be. The bonus and the retention offered if you qualify does not offset the value of unpaid overtime and does not compensate loss of personal time with loved ones or time away from personal pursuits that bring you happiness. If you have doubts there is a handy calculator available, it’s an eye opener on the gohomeontimeday site.
The good thingsLocation is good in regards to ammenities. There are personalities that can make your day.Leaders & Management do seem to have good intentions however they appear to be poorly resourced, overworked themselves & pulled in all directions as a result there is a disconnect between them & case managers.
The challengesOvertime is normalised, not an occasional hour or short lunch but daily.Work from Home appears to mean it’s OK to work more hours in lieu having to travel to the office.Case managers are overloaded, while trying to manage vulnerable & often very difficult people, the call coaching is condescending.

The are good people at EML but not enough to compensate for the negative impact working at EML creates on wellbeing. If you can make it work for you then either you are lucky to be ‘in’ or you were lucky to be dealt a decent portfolio or you found a way to numb yourself.
The good thingsOpen office allows you to see and hear what’s really going on and what’s really being said, rather than rely on censured updates.
The challengesResources do not match CPI expectations. Contracts are gained on promises that case managers are expected to keep. Unsettled working environment creating doubt and high turnover. High workload. Unpaid overtime well outside what may be ‘reasonable’ with in your contract. HR will gaslight you.

Something is wrong here, not just in a particular office or department but on a broader scope across the company. Morale is rock bottom, people are leaving in higher numbers, filling positions locally is being replaced by virtual transfers and no one seems to have the ability to listen.
The good thingsIf you have an interest in people case management is for you. Maybe not here though.
The challengesVague messaging regarding plans, seemingly to deflect questions. Projects seem to be full steam ahead then come to a sudden stop without completion. Justifying roles that add another layer of micromanagement to case manager workloads, rather than improving day to day tasks and reducing barriers.

Research before you apply. Ask culture, workload, training & retention longevity questions if you do interview here.
The good thingsIf I was asked this question 18 months ago would have written a list as long as your arm. Now at best you are well placed for commute.
The challengesLovely mottos & gestures on the surface, behind the scenes zero concern unless perception of care is needed to protect the brand & avoid an injury claim from one of their employees. Sorely resourced for a company of its age & size, relying heavily on front line staff to make up company shortfalls.

I would strongly advise against joining this company. They set unrealistic KPIs, foster a stagnant culture with no clear values for internal staff, and experience high turnover among case managers. Compensation remains largely stagnant, with minimal annual pay increases and no updates to the car allowance for years. While they may listen to concerns, meaningful action is rarely taken.
The good thingsWas a better work place prior to new management taking over
The challengesHigh pressure from management and internal staff to get the desired outcome

    Very Average Workplace
The good thingsThe people you meet.
The challenges- Culture was just ok. - Remuneration - Severely lacking for the amount of work, as well as the exhausting nature of the role. Alongside that, bonus' are paid retrospectively, if you quit you miss out on the year priors bonus. Also the growth structure and internal processes for growth are poor.

    Immature and inexperienced leaders
The good thingsSome really genuine people, and the team activities and parties
The challengesThey seem to promote incredibly immature, inexperienced team leaders whose poor leadership skills literally ruin people’s mental health. The workload is completely unrealistic and unmanageable, but if you try to raise these concerns, you’re gaslit into believing that you are the problem

    Disappointing Place To Work.
The good thingsThe essence of your role is to assist people in their recovery, this can be rewarding. Office location is great though the office itself feels like second hand throw together.
The challengesDoes not adequately assist staff to provide support to those in need, often failing to meet both regulated and stakeholder expectations. Time poor, often in a position where you are breaking your word and letting people down. You are told what needs to be done rather than guided and supported.

This review is for those considering a role here.
The good thingsThere were a few people who genuinely had hearts in the right place, team leaders and case managers. Occasional morning teas or lunches. Hybrid role.
The challengesI was in two minds about writing a review, as I have recovered, moved on to better things and the company did not care during my time very unlikely to care now. But decided to after seeing the overtly positive Talent Reviews and new roles being advertised. Communication is incredibly poor from Managment, case managers have to sit though call coaching and be told how to communicate better and to be responsive to concerns, suggest Managment needs to undertake this training, if they are then they are not taking the learnings onboard. Understaffed, piecemeal training and poorly resourced, however case managers are expected to deliver excellence this is at a personal cost that cannot be compensated by salary or inadequate bonus structure. Can not speak for others, but better resourcing and more equal workloads would have been of more value than a token bonus, would have created a fairer work life balance and better staff retention. Bit of a club, if you are not part of it often anything of importance is spoon fed out and you are likely to fail due to simply not being aware as you were not part of the club. Lack of mental health care for staff, yes there are flyers and a number to call. But if you do happen to become unwell because of work there will be no concern, they will be more comfortable if you leave rather than address concerns and create a better place to work. Someone else will come along fill your seat until they realise their situation. This company appears to be riding on past reputation which is fading fast.

The good thingsNear transport and parking.
The challengesPoor onboarding. Unreliable systems. Inconsistent support. What opportunities you receive will depend on who you are associated with. Unpaid overtime and due to workload unavoidable overtime. High risk of burnout, no care, just an employee number.

Save your wellbeing and mental health, do not be fooled by their ads and HR recruitment team. I already knew something was shady when the facilitator wouldn’t answer us questions around turnover rate. They pay below average for the first 6 months and most people don’t make it passed the 6 months because of how much work you’re given and the expectations to be thrown in the deep end and be told “case management isn’t for everyone, you either make it or you don’t”
The good thingsMet some nice colleagues there, systems and processes are good.
The challengesWorst place I’ve worked at in the past 10 years. There’s horrible/inexperienced management and your team leader will throw you under the bus over small things. They micromanage you like a call centre and have “groups” of politics, you’re either in it or you’re not. It’s ruined my mental health and shattered my self confidence when I know I’m so much better than this. Career progression is lacking, management would not sign off on “EML grow” (the development tool that increases your pay grade based on demonstrated experience on claims) simply because there’s ’insufficient headcount for another senior at this moment’ and probably also because you’re not “in the group” The team leader I had would go on lunch and bword to other TLs and specialists about how bad her team was. (So unprofessional and not constructive) Senior management was very inflexible and very black and white - treated like we are a liability instead of workers working for their business.
