What’s it like working at Fantastic furniture?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Fantastic Furniture employees consistently highlight the positive team environment and supportive workplace culture among colleagues. The company offers career advancement opportunities, provides training programs, and maintains attractive staff benefits including a 25% discount. Many employees also value their customer interactions and the ability to help people find what they need.

However, employees note some operational challenges, including understaffing issues particularly in warehouse operations, and varying experiences with management support and communication. While training programs exist, their practical implementation could be enhanced, and some employees find maintaining work-life balance challenging due to the scheduling system and weekend work requirements.

positive supported by strong leadership, growth opportunities and a collaborative team environment
The good things The Store Managers are extremely supportive and always willing to help when assistance is needed. Many team members have progressed through promotions within the company, which I believe reflects the success of the Store Leader and his ability to build confidence within the team. I absolutely love working for Fantastic and feel very privileged to be supported by such strong leadership. The company has also supported my development by helping me obtain a Certificate III in Retail and providing opportunities to advance into a leadership role.
The challengesMore team events would be great to help build rapport. Conference in a Box was definitely missed last year, as it is a highlight of working at Fantastic. Reopening the warehouse on Mondays and Tuesdays would also be beneficial, as the current closure is impacting sales. Offering more permanent positions within the warehouse team could further support this. Aside from these points, Fantastic Furniture Maroochydore is a very positive place to work. The staff discount could also be reviewed — the current 25% off full-price items is no longer a strong incentive to purchase, as previously staff received the full discount across in-store items, including sale stock.

Poor management ruined what otherwise was a good job.
The good thingsCustomer interactions, being able to help people find what they need.
The challengesThe store needs a better manager. A manager who actually does their job instead of playing games on his phone. A manager who doesn't talk behind your back and engage in school yard gossip. A manager that doesn't judge customers by their cultural background. A manager who leads by example rather than chuck tantrums like a toddler. A manager who doesn't leave everything for his assistant manager to do. A manager who treats his team fairly. A manager who doesn't instigate arguments with customers, delivery drivers and staff. A manager who actually knows the system he is supposedly there to manage. Time served does not equate to being qualified to manage.

    Don’t waste your time.
The good thingsI genuinely enjoyed the selling process and appreciated the opportunity to get to know my customers and the local community groups who purchased from me.
The challengesThe job ads really sell the dream—a fun, supportive workplace full of positivity. Sadly, the reality is more fairy tale than fact. Yes, they boast about providing nationally recognised training, which sounds fantastic… until you’re actually on the floor, with no idea and realise “training” means being tossed straight into the deep end. Apparently “supportive team” is just their polite way of saying “hope you can swim.” Work–life balance? That’s adorable. In practice, expect to work almost every weekend, and if you dare ask for time off, be prepared to feel like you’ve personally inconvenienced the entire organisation. They do offer an EAP, which is great—because you’ll probably need it. Genuine care for staff wellbeing, however, seems optional. Team issues tend to be passed around as gossip rather than handled like… well, a workplace. There was always the cheerful promise that “things will get better.” Spoiler alert: they didn’t
