Great tech, bit culty. The good thingsThe technology is wonderful, development was in-house so it was very tailored. Ability to support remote and rural participants and clients. Great role for experience and growth. Largely people centric in the day to day operation.
The challengesExternal challenges aside, I saw and experienced a lot of exploitative labor practices, while legal and not worse than a lot of other companies, it's definitely still a private company at the end of the day. This has changed as far as I'm aware but there was no pathway to permanent employment when I worked there for support workers, the model worked by classing people who were working as employees, as private contractors so there was little protection if someone was unwell or injured. While it was promised that Support Workers could name their fees within a suggested range, it was heavily discouraged and most people were working at the base rate. There was more focus on the technology and getting that ready for sale. Hoarding PPE. Not a lot of support and being told to just try harder when you are giving your all is disheartening. Under resourced a lot and an expectation to meet unrealistic expectations.Worker isolation is an issue, but I believe some of this has been addressed.
