    - Disappointing for a company that marketed itself as high quality.
The good thingsGoing home, going home.
The challenges- Management that knows what they are doing. They reward people that work above their contract without being paid. This is deemed as “hard work”. - Improving payroll systems that pay people properly.

Working at Flower Power is a rewarding experience, offering a supportive team, beautiful work environment, great staff discounts, learning opportunities, flexible rosters, and a strong sense of appreciation from management.
The good thingsBeing a Retail Sales Assistant at Flower Power has been such a positive and fulfilling experience. From day one, the team made me feel part of a warm, welcoming, and passionate group who genuinely care about plants, customers, and each other. Working in such a beautiful setting, surrounded by vibrant flowers and lush greenery, makes every day enjoyable. The generous staff discounts are a real bonus for anyone who loves gardening or styling their home, and there are so many opportunities to develop new skills and learn from knowledgeable horticulture experts. The management team is approachable, open-minded, and quick to acknowledge and reward effort, which makes you feel appreciated. The flexible rosters and focus on maintaining a healthy work-life balance are also a big plus. If you’re passionate about customer service, love working around plants, and want to join a respected, established company, Flower Power is a fantastic place to grow your career
The challengesAlthough it was rewarding the job did come with some challenges. The physical demands are tough, so make sure you have some good comfortable shoes. As a casual there is not always guaranteed hours during off-peak seasons but so far I have been welcomed back and my shift hours have increased in summer year after year.

Flower Power offers a welcoming, supportive, and flexible workplace where you can grow your skills, enjoy great perks, and work with a passionate team in a beautiful environment surrounded by plants.
The good thingsWorking at Flower Power was such a rewarding experience. From day one, I felt welcomed into a friendly, passionate team that genuinely cared about plants, customers, and each other. The environment is beautiful – being surrounded by lush greenery and flowers every day is such a mood booster. The company offers great discounts, which is a big plus if you love gardening or home styling. There’s also plenty of opportunity to learn and grow, whether through on-the-job training or moving into new roles across the business. Management is approachable, supportive, and open to ideas. They recognise hard work and celebrate achievements, which makes you feel valued. I also appreciate the flexibility with rosters and the focus on work-life balance – it’s nice to work somewhere that respects your time outside of work. If you’re passionate about plants, enjoy working with people, and want to be part of a company with a great reputation, Flower Power is a fantastic place to build your career.
The challengesWhile Flower Power is a beautiful and rewarding place to work, like any retail and horticulture business, there are some challenges to be aware of. Physical work – Many roles involve being on your feet for long hours, lifting heavy pots, soil, or stock, and working outdoors in all kinds of weather. You need to be reasonably fit and prepared for physical tasks. Seasonal peaks – Busy periods like spring, Mother’s Day, and Christmas can mean long days, extra shifts, and a fast-paced environment with lots of customer demand. Retail hours – As with most retail businesses, weekend and public holiday work is common, which can require adjusting your personal schedule. Customer service challenges – Most customers are lovely, but like in any retail environment, you sometimes need to manage complaints or difficult interactions. That said, many employees find that the supportive team culture, discounts, and the joy of working with plants outweigh these challenges.

Avoid. You don't know what you might touch.Casuals hourly rate is higher than managers. High staff turn over, no job security, irregular shifts. Pesticides, fungicides, wasps, cat and dog wee on plants and pots. They change your hours last minute, send you home after 3 hours, parking is offsite 500m away, new manager ever 6 months, older experienced workers 'micromanaged' until they leave.

No amount of money could ever entice me back here.
The good thingsSome people here are genuinely nice.
The challengesManagement. This place is a throwback to fifty years ago when it was acceptable to shout at and humiliate staff. The shouting that goes on would make paint peel off walls.

The good thingsThe employees who do not talk behind your back are lovely
The challengesManagement leadership? A joke. Despite their business knowledge, knowledge in their own department? zero!! So embarrassing. Experience seems to have been gained on the golf course. People skills? Ahhh do we have people? Where do I start? So disappointed

If management was competent, it would be a wonderful place to work.
The good thingsVery friendly atmosphere, especially between coworkers. Opportunities to learn about horticulture and plant care. Flexibility with shifts.
The challengesIncompetent management on all levels. Too much responsibility put on cashiers and lower-level staff without enough training. Severe pressure on cashiers to sell club memberships, with shifts being taken away if you don't sell 'enough'. Horrible, often broken POS system. 'Shove it under the rug' mentality for any issues that come up.

    good until it's not
The good thingsGood store managers, all employees wonderful, as a casual worker hours were very flexible, pay decent
The challengesupper management is ridiculous, expectations and values held with company questionable, horrible heat conditions in summer (have seen many other cashiers quit early on because they faint from heatstroke), bad handling of the 2020 pandemic - really exposed their profit over people moto, rostering was abysmal at first frequently not working for periods of 4+ weeks

    Not a fair workplace
The good thingsSome Nice people to work with
The challengesManagers are not fair when it comes to giving out shifts as they would only give me one shift per week for 3 or 4 hours and other casuals four per week with 7 or 8 hour shifts and they don’t recognize hard work

Staff is wonderful, environment a little harsh.
The good thingsLove plants, love chatting to people about their gardens and plans for a gorgeous decorative flower bed. I enjoy discovering new plants and watching the colourful ingenious displays that are created. Their products are first grade.
The challengesIt's a hot place to work, little to no shade at all, it makes it very hard to work outdoors and stay positive when you are burning up inside and out, not to mention seeing customers struggle with the lack of shelter. Many customers simply give up simply from the heat and exposure. Would benefit from more shade, more trees, seating, better paths, and they would have less stock loss as well from better coverage of their plants.

One of the best as far as retail goes, but not for those with a tenuous grip on their sanity.
The good thingsOutside Physical Diversity of duties at times Lots of things to learn about Well paid for retail The people are generally good to work with Fun more often than not
The challengesCustomers Customers Customers I cannot stress this enough. They are mainly elderly and can barely make it to the store let alone make it through a visit to the store without doing a bunch of dumb stuff and being incredibly annoying. You Learn to cope but prepare to be consistently amazed by the stupidity of the public. This is also compared to other retail jobs.
