Soul destroying, the entire experience has made me abandon a 15 year career and pursue something completely different. If you value your mental health DO NOT WORK THERE.
The good thingsDepartment Manager was amazing. Products were good. Decent flexibility.
The challengesRostering you get split days off, toxic environment, you only matter if you're in the purple circle, you get run into the ground and they'll still ask for more. Theres 0 work life balance. The bakery production is 100x more than any bakery I've ever worked in. The bakers don't have their breaks because theres just too much work to do. If you're fast and finish your own work you get to do everyone else's aswell. You dont get any incentives for working there not even 5% off your shop like other supermarkets. The place is old and tired, the mentality of upper managers is if its working don't change it, hence why the place is run like its 1980. There is so much potential but its just being wasted. They don’t want to do well, they just want consistently average.

Good starter job for teens, but also good for those just needing some work.
The good thingsWell-balanced shifts, lots of opportunity to cover other shifts, supervisors/managers back you up, opportunity to change departments.
The challenges- Some supervisors can be a bit egotistical, choosing friends to do fun tasks rather than being fair with everyone - Old roster checking system (using a real life folder), should become all online.

Wouldn't work there again but would recommend as an easy casual job during highschool.
The good thingsIt helps develop your character and has some minor challenges you learn to overcome and can grow from. You learn to make great connections with regular customers so it can help you get a grasp for the type of community you are in. Also a great oppurtunity for new friendships.
The challengesManagement can be tough and can be immature, but could have been just my store. It becomes a bit tiring booking shifts off as there are no systems in place to do so. My store had management with their children employed so it became a bit of an intense environment in terms of coworkers if a minor thing went wrong. All tolerable to a certain point, is the reason I am choosing to leave.

If you have lots of self-respect, you will hate working here.
The good thingsWhilst working at Foodland, I'm happy to have learnt new communication and working skills I wouldn't have known before I started the job on checkout.
The challengesNo doubt that you're not going to get along well with everyone you work with, but a lot of the management staff are quite rude and they sometimes made it very unpleasant to go to work.

    Never again!!
The good thingsHope.. that one day things will get better..... still waiting
The challengesIf you like to risk your life with faulty appliances and poor communication skills and work ethic from management. You will be pushed to the brink of no return with no appreciation and you get to take on all of the business problems because management wouldn’t dare stand up for what they have done or not done just one handball after another. DO NOT WORK HERE!!
