A positive experience and great place to work
The good thingsI've had nothing but a good experience since working for Foundation Housing. As a working parent, the flexibility has been amazing for me and has helped me to settle into my role comfortably. I'm not overworked, which is a first for me in the Housing Sector, and have a great team around me. Although being near so many great food places is not good for my bank account!
The challengesSome systems can be slow, but the wheels are in motion ready for a new and improved system as I understand it.

    Wolf in sheep’s clothing
    The good thingsWelcoming team members
The challengesPoor Management like nothing I’ve ever experienced in my career. Their incompetence was disturbing and people are leaving in droves. Unless you’re one of those people ingratiating themselves to the senior executives it’s a miserable place to work.

My experience at foundation housing has been nothing but positive
The good thingsWhat I’ve enjoyed most about my job is the amazing and welcoming staff. Coming from a highly stressful and completely different sector, it’s been nice to have people who are patient and supportive.
The challengesSome of the systems can be slow and could be streamlined. It’s my understanding that this is already in the works.

Toxic doesn't begin to describe this place
    The good thingsLeederville office location
The challengesEverything about this place is damaging. Leadership don’t listen to staff and even the recent terrible culture survey results have been ignored. No wonder there’s no trust and it’s such an unhappy workplace. Don’t come here unless you want your mental health destroyed

A horrible workplace do not come here
The good thingsLeederville is a nice place to work
The challengesNo leadership, an inner circle of incompetent people who could not be further from the company values if they tried. There is no care for employees or tenants. Most people are unhappy and stay only because the pay is ok

Stay away, plenty of real community minded organisation out there.
The good thingsGood location for public transport. Friendly and helpful co-workers, depending on which team you're in.
The challengesManagement with their heads in the sand about the unhappy staff. HR would rather report all the 1 star reviews than do anything about it - the whole company knows and its a running joke.

Passionate staff and generous benefits make this a great place to work.
The good thingsStaff are passionate about the work they do, and care deeply about Foundation Housing's customers and the organisational purpose and mission. Most staff are covered by an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement that provides generous remuneration and annual, personal, carers, special and mental health leave. Flexible work hours that support work/life balance. Time and energy being invested in improving the values-based culture and supporting staff more effectively.
The challengesChanges in staff and structure could be handled better, leading to frustrated employees at times. Work is being done to improve communication across departments, which is a challenge at nearly all organisations.

3 to 4 years in the role
I would gladly return to FHL if the opportunity presented itself. I believe the Organisation genuinely cares about it's tenants and staff.
The good thingsLoved the people. Have met some very talented and caring people during my time at FHL. The Organisation is working hard to drive the right culture to improve the experience for both employees and tenants. With the right focus from the entire team, FHL will continue to grow as a well regarded Community Housing provider. Also working in Leederville has it's advantages such as fantastic coffee shops and the local IGA. Access to the train station is also excellent.
The challengesHaving a stable workforce with the right people in the right roles. The organisation has worked hard to get to this point and is definitely heading in the right direction. Parking can be an issue, although there are many local free parking spots that are usually within a 7-10 min walking distance.

    Lovely team of people
The good thingsNot for profit organisation which focuses on meeting demand for housing in WA
The challengesCommunication with employees could be better - it would avoid some discontentment when the rumor mill takes over. But I genuinely think everyone across the company is working to make that better.

    House of horrors
The good thingsNo positives for working at this now high corporate run social housing company.
The challengesWhat once was a great open minded social housing company is now A Tight knitted corporate run management, whom don’t care about service or facilities for the good tenants whom are deserving of well needed upgrades. The undeserving tenants are given chance after chance after the constant bad treatment of staff, damaging or completely destroying properties, who have no responsibility for their actions nor pay their rent, some in thousands dollars of arrears. This is all while there are high waiting list for people in crucial need of accomodation.

I felt used, taken advantage of and totally undervalued.
The good thingsFlexibility around working hours was good.
The challengesThe cultural leader program provides no direction to staff and is not role modelled by Management. Some teams are managed poorly and some not at all resulting in clashes between departments that drive a shocking culture that in turn, impacts on the work you try to do.

The challengesNo progression, not a lot of experienced staff left. Senior leadership Team. FHL Values.... not a lead by example ethos more do as we say not as we do.

    Fantastic place to work!
The good thingsThe staff are really friendly and always happy to have a chat plus the office and location are great too; right in the heart of Leederville. It's a very rewarding experience too working with the tenants and getting to know their stories.
The challengesThere's always a lot of work going on and you may have to balance a few projects at once but everyone is very helpful and communicative that you shouldn't have too much trouble getting everything done.
