An absolute jokeThe good thingsSOME of the staff at a store level are amazing.
The challengesSave yourself
Don’t be fooled by this brand.
Work life balance? What’s that?
Expect to be on call 24/7, on your RDO, your annual leave, when you’re sick.
Like most retail companies their staff is underpaid and overworked.
Upper management (head office, regional managers, cluster managers) could not care less about your physical and mental health.
Gossiping coming for up top and no one having a nice word to say about anyone.
Favouritism from head office and regionals. If they decide they don’t like you regardless of how good you are at your job you won’t be fired, just made so miserable until you have no choice but to resign.
You are expendable. You are simply the sale you make. Nothing more.
If you take a sick day you may be asked to work extra during the week so they don’t have to pay you for not being in work.
Many stores don’t have back rooms so there could be up two 50 boxes delivered at one time which will have to be left in the floor creating a workplace hazard for not only yourself and your staff, but also customers. Customers will of course then blame you for them not being able to access parts of the store/ be unable to get through with prams and wheelchairs.
Expect daily backlash from customers in regard to the companies returns policy or lack of.
Like all customer service roles you will have to deal with rude customers, however after working in many retail roles with many different companies I can say that Ghanda has the worst I have ever encountered.
Constant theft which you will be responsible for.
Be expected to work by yourself for long hours and be told you can’t close the store to go to the bathroom.
Unrealistic expectations, especially when you could be working alone for up to 5 hours.
Expect your words to be twisted by upper management and used against you.
The highest turnover of any brand I have ever seen; a store manager is lucky to make it 12 months.
Little to no support from upper management, only criticism.
You will most likely be alone for most of the day with a three hour lunch cover. During this time you are expected to complete the daily housekeeping, serving on POS, checking the change rooms and putting back the items, clearance lists, VM memos, callbacks, Online Stock Requests, reply to emails and complete stock which could be upwards of 50 boxes a week.
