I feel valued, appreciated and been given the opportunity to develop. My experience has been ideal.
The good thingsGlobal Skills is a fantastic organisation to work for. The company genuinely invests in its staff and provides strong opportunities for growth and career development. What stands out most is the wrap-around support provided to both employees and participants, creating a positive and supportive workplace culture. I would strongly recommend Global Skills to anyone looking to work in a meaningful role where they can make a real difference in the community.
The challengesWorking in employment services as an industry can be challenging because you often support people facing complex barriers to employment while balancing administrative requirements and performance targets - With this being said, Global Skills allows ample time to meet these tasks and offers adequate training to support vulnerable clients.

Executive Management must trust experienced staff for their Leadership.
The good thingsIf you are passionate about helping people progress in their life, address the challenges or barriers that place limitations on them, whether it is education, work experience, location, confidence, mental and physical health or ability, just some examples. If you genuinely care about helping all people succeed at life no matter how challenging, then this is a wonderful opportunity for you that you will find equally challenging and rewarding.
The challengesGlobal Skills sits under the "Umbrella" of the Federal Government's Workforce Australia (WFA). WFA has what I perceive to be quite structured policies and procedures, workplace guidelines and expectations/requirements (essentially "tick a box" requirements) that my employer deems absolutely necessary (to the point of being questioned each week as to why I do not meet the KPI's in this area. My response? I am too busy doing my job to meet the KPI's. My manager has offered me her time to address my time- management skills (and I assume the lack of from their perspective). I do not believe that if I cannot find the time in my extremely busy weekly schedule assisting my client base, to essentially "Cold Call" as Global Skills calls it, "Reverse Market" to random companies asking for work opportunities for my clients who as an Employment Consultant with Transition to Work participants, they often have no workplace experience, due to often being an Early School Leaver, have limited education

Job challenges you & management supports you!
The good thingsI have worked at Global Skills for a while now and have felt well supported during/currently my time here. Support is always available from management, even if they don't directly manage you, I'm able to pick up the phone and get support from anyone in the management team. I'm able to get constructed support from my senior and also when I raised I wanted to grow within my role & company, I was supported with training and guidance. My manager also sits with me to go through a small number of my caseload each week to provide support/advice on how i can move them closer to job readiness/work.
The challengesSome barriers that client may have can be really confronting, but support and debrief is available from colleagues & managers

Micromanagement, camera watching, high turn over
    The good thingsImmediate colleagues
The challengesIf you thrive in upline micromanagement, being watched on cameras, no support with threatening clients, have unrealistic expectations, KPIs and bonus structures and can teach newer team members within your first month without training provided then this is the work place for you. Treat yourself to wage deductions if your clock in is wrong - even if you're there early every day and form strong connections with your staff members who are also counting down the days to the weekend.Broken Promises for development and growth so the company can capitalise on staff pushing beyond limits, competing extra work load without any support

Disappointing overall experience from a company that initially showed potential.
The good thingsRelationships with other staff
The challengesThe micro management on site. The focus towards business targets rather than staff and client well-being. Lack of fair support and recognition. The fact that youth and disability clients are in the same office space as ex-offender clients with minimal separation.

i have since joined a new employer & realise that its not the industry that is bad its this company.
The good thingsthe immediate colleagues on site
The challengespay is very low. 65k. the immediate team are supportive and try to help when they can, but they are also mostly new and they are also so busy because the office has not ever been at staffing capacity while ive been there anyway. immediate manager was good when she was available and not being pulled by the other offices she has to manage. security cameras and time coding system show me trust issues with this company and the staff they hire. cant even have lunch without being watched.

gained hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment, adapting quickly while learning on the job and managing diverse, case-specific challenges with limited formal training and support.
The good thingsEmpowering people to reach their employment and career aspirations
The challengesOne of the main challenges is the reliance on on-the-job training, which can be inconsistent and limited. Due to minimal formal or structured training provided onsite, new staff are often required to learn through direct experience. As each case presents unique complexities, mistakes are more likely to occur during the learning process. Additionally, high staff turnover and the heavy workload of existing team members make it difficult for them to offer adequate support or guidance to new employees. This can contribute to a steep learning curve and feelings of being overwhelmed or unsupported.

The challengesThe role can be challenging at times however the good defiantly outweighs the bad and the wins are always worth it.

Shocking. I was told I had six month probabtion, and was escorted oout the door like I had stolen petty cash on week 4. No staff seemed surprised.. Theyd seen it all before.
The good thingsMy colleagues appeared to be friendly.
The challengesI had to teach myself everything. While i am good with tech I had to learn their database and Centrelinks. Expected to be up and running being shown something once. Ridiculous. I was given 99 clients to take over within two weeks.

Supportive Company With a Great Work/Life Balance
The good thingsI worked for Global Skills for nearly 8 years and loved it. The company fosters growth for their employees and they make a difference in the community. I have found a great life/work balance with Global Skills and they have been so supportive of me professionally and personally. The only reason I have left is because of personal reasons meaning I can't work at the moment but I know the door is always open for me if I am able to return to work.
The challengesThe challenges are just the industry itself. It's an ever changing industry that keeps you on your toes. Management are always on top of these changes and train and support staff accordingly.

I would not recommend this company to work for, by far the worst employer I have come across during my working history
The good thingsThe team members, there are only a few senior managers who are decent and nice but that’s about it
The challengesMicromanagement to the extreme, no clear direction or advice from management. No training given and expected to see 7 clients a day.

The good thingsHard to identify any. The odd staff member that comes and goes quickly as they realize this environment is toxic and no longer want to be part of it.
The challengesPoor leadership, management and direction. No communication from "leadership" No recognition Everything is always too late

The good thingsthere was not really any good things to say

This has been a supportive environment that has provided me with opportunities for career growth.
The good thingsFlexible work hours / RDOs have been introduced which is great for work/life balance . Hands on and supportive Snr. Management team that supports and engages staff and each other. Expanding company that still makes you feel like you're an individual, not just a cog in a machine. The staff and managers are passionate about making a difference and supporting our clients. Also great opportunities for training and development with our industry body and opportunities for advancement - a company that promotes from within - Management have all been staff that have been recognised and promoted/given opportunities to advance. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) available for staff.
The challengesChanging labour markets due to external factors presents challenges so need to be flexible and adaptable in working approach. Need to be be able to adapt to clients with varied needs.

    The good thingsNothing Good....beyond bad
The challengesits very challenging as they don't value Staff or clients, and micro managing beyond imagination. and they don't want to spend a dollar on anything and if they must do that it will take forever to get approved....it takes forever to get approved because they hope you give up asking.

Global Skills was a great for providing young individuals with basic communication and admin skills. However, other colleagues of mine who progressed into case worker roles have regretted it and also find the job to be not so rewarding.
The good thingsThe first team that I worked with was extremely supportive in everything. Would always encourage me to take on more work, and produce quality results.
The challengesAlot of the times, it felt like the receptionist were being micromanaged and assigned petty little \"challenges\" to keep busy and motivated.
