What’s it like working at Global Skills?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Global Skills employees consistently praise the supportive management culture, highlighting their availability and commitment to staff development. The positive team environment and relationships with colleagues are frequently mentioned as key benefits, along with good work-life balance through flexible hours and RDOs. Many staff members find fulfillment in helping clients overcome barriers and achieve their employment goals.

However, some areas present opportunities for improvement, including the need for more structured training programs for new employees, as the current on-the-job training can be inconsistent. Staff also note challenges in managing high caseloads while meeting KPI requirements, and some report experiencing close supervision of their daily activities.

I feel valued, appreciated and been given the opportunity to develop. My experience has been ideal.
The good thingsGlobal Skills is a fantastic organisation to work for. The company genuinely invests in its staff and provides strong opportunities for growth and career development. What stands out most is the wrap-around support provided to both employees and participants, creating a positive and supportive workplace culture. I would strongly recommend Global Skills to anyone looking to work in a meaningful role where they can make a real difference in the community.
The challengesWorking in employment services as an industry can be challenging because you often support people facing complex barriers to employment while balancing administrative requirements and performance targets - With this being said, Global Skills allows ample time to meet these tasks and offers adequate training to support vulnerable clients.

Executive Management must trust experienced staff for their Leadership.
The good thingsIf you are passionate about helping people progress in their life, address the challenges or barriers that place limitations on them, whether it is education, work experience, location, confidence, mental and physical health or ability, just some examples. If you genuinely care about helping all people succeed at life no matter how challenging, then this is a wonderful opportunity for you that you will find equally challenging and rewarding.
The challengesGlobal Skills sits under the "Umbrella" of the Federal Government's Workforce Australia (WFA). WFA has what I perceive to be quite structured policies and procedures, workplace guidelines and expectations/requirements (essentially "tick a box" requirements) that my employer deems absolutely necessary (to the point of being questioned each week as to why I do not meet the KPI's in this area. My response? I am too busy doing my job to meet the KPI's. My manager has offered me her time to address my time- management skills (and I assume the lack of from their perspective). I do not believe that if I cannot find the time in my extremely busy weekly schedule assisting my client base, to essentially "Cold Call" as Global Skills calls it, "Reverse Market" to random companies asking for work opportunities for my clients who as an Employment Consultant with Transition to Work participants, they often have no workplace experience, due to often being an Early School Leaver, have limited education

Job challenges you & management supports you!
The good thingsI have worked at Global Skills for a while now and have felt well supported during/currently my time here. Support is always available from management, even if they don't directly manage you, I'm able to pick up the phone and get support from anyone in the management team. I'm able to get constructed support from my senior and also when I raised I wanted to grow within my role & company, I was supported with training and guidance. My manager also sits with me to go through a small number of my caseload each week to provide support/advice on how i can move them closer to job readiness/work.
The challengesSome barriers that client may have can be really confronting, but support and debrief is available from colleagues & managers
