Dissapointing, some good people but others seemed deflated. Sterile working environments. The only people that appeared to be happy were those who recently commenced with the company. Rebranding the company is not going to assist poor morale.
The good thingsCoffee, biscuits and fruit. Some people in other office localities were good to deal with, others were not.
The challengesObtaining feedback was very slow, practices and processes took far too long, fellow team members whilst helpful where under extreme pressure. Team did not seem cohesive and were unhappy. Turnover appeared high once the market improved and people left seeking better salaries and conditions. Managers appeared to be time poor as they chase the work in a competitive market.

    Good colleagues and interesting work.
The good thingsThe friendly atmosphere, the fact that even high-ranking engineers and scientists answer my questions and, yes, the extra paid day off for birthdays.
The challengesThe pace of proposals and tenders. With the challenges our sector faces we are applying for a lot of work. The last-second-itis that strikes mid-afternoon on a Friday.

A good company to work for.
The good thingsCompany encourages a good approach to treating people with respect and making sure they are OK with work and personal issues. Senior staff are typically highly experienced and knowledgeable people. Lots of effort put into training.

too much time focused on the job at hand and no assistance on career development.
The good thingsBeing responsible for your own contribution and time management of the project and being treated with respect, politeness and consideration
The challengesdiverse projects, unplanned deadlines, developing strategies, intense and unrelenting pressure for chargeable hours. Never peaks and troughs between projects, just unrelenting pressurefor chargeable hours. No downtime or catch up time. Research in your own time, work at least 2 hours each day for nothing and made to feel as if you're the one at fault because you haven't worked it out instantly or you have poor organisation skills. No bonuses or incentives

It was challenging to work on a project when many of the stakeholders had their own way of doing things and were not wiling to change
The good thingsGenerally personnel at all levels were cooperative and supportive
The challengesVery little planning and goals and objectives changed frequently. Department heads had there own agendas so it was often difficult to develop processes/systems
