A rewarding and fast-paced role with real impact!
The good thingsWhat I value most about this role is the opportunity to connect with exceptional candidates who are making a meaningful difference in children’s lives every day. Engaging with passionate early childhood professionals and centre leaders is highly rewarding and remains a consistent source of motivation. A key highlight of my role is developing strong relationships with Centre Managers. Their commitment to their teams, children, and families is genuinely inspiring, and it is a privilege to contribute to an organisation that creates such a positive impact. I also greatly value the collaborative culture within the Talent team. We benefit from supportive colleagues and a shared commitment to delivering strong outcomes. Despite working in a remote environment, we remain closely connected and readily available to support one another when needed.
The challengesThis is a fast-paced, high-volume role in a competitive market, which keeps the work engaging and dynamic. It requires resilience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to attract the right talent, but that’s what makes it so rewarding. It’s a great role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, building relationships, and continuously evolving their approach.

Collaborative workplace with remote flexibility and opportunities to learn and grow professionally.
The good thingsOpportunities to try yourself in different areas of the business and challenge yourself. Good benefits such as manager bonuses, childcare discounts, discounts across multiple brands through Bluecard, and access to mindfulness classes. Some states also offer gym discounts.
The challengesThe sector in general can feel somewhat uncertain, with a lot of ongoing change, making it better suited to someone who embraces adaptability. There is no HRIS system in place, which, in my experience across similar roles, can make the work more challenging.

The Center Managers do not just sit in the office. They help. Support and care.
The good thingsThe Centers Management is awesome. Understanding. Super Supportive.
The challengesChild to teacher ratio. Not just the minimum legal requirement of 1 teacher to 10 children. Especially with nappy change times and other child behaviors in the pod.

Dont work here. Aim for a community based Centre who care more about their staff and the children.
The good thingsGreat kids. Convenient locations to PT.
The challengesDont work here. Over crowded rooms, lack of resources. Learning ctivities that last 2 mins, long enough to snap a picture for parents. Toxic work environments. Poor lunch rooms. Lack of recognition for legitimate good workers.

Early Childhood EducatorHaving spent a period of time working at this centre, I found the experience to be quite challenging. There were noticeable issues with inconsistency and a sense of favouritism within the workplace culture, which impacted team morale. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel supported by the management team, as concerns often felt acknowledged in words but not followed up with meaningful action. There were also ongoing concerns raised regarding the quality of care and adherence to child safety standards, which were not adequately addressed despite being brought to attention. This was particularly disheartening, as these issues directly relate to the wellbeing of the children. I hope constructive changes will be made in the future to better support both staff and the children in care.

Unsupportive Management False promises made during the interview, regularly does 1 over ratio, allows for over capacity in rooms whilst also being understaffed and regularly refuses to get casual staff on days needed in order to cut costs. Plus they prioritise the view of the centre over the actual care for the children. Was there for 6 months and cried almost weekly because of the stress load. Went to management regularly with issues and was met with further false promises.

One of the worst!!!!I opened a brand new centre with Guardian. I left a centre i adored for more money and was promised support they never delivered on. The reason they pay staff so high is because no one in their right mind would work there otherwise. Forced to overfill rooms, run with bare minimum staffing, unrealistic expectations with work load and still expected to work on the floor daily. One of the worst early learning providers i have ever worked for. Their bottom line is money. After working there for less than I year I left due to my declining mental health due to the stress of working for them. I have been unable to return to childcare which I used to love due to my experience.

A supportive and inspiring workplace that fosters growth, encourages bravery, respect, sharing, caring, and helping others to make a real difference in children's lives.
The good thingsWorking at Guardian Childcare & Education is rewarding, with strong teamwork, supportive leadership, and a focus on growth. The well-designed centres and ongoing training create an inspiring space where you feel valued and motivated to make a real difference.
The challengesWhile Guardian is supportive and positive, occasional staffing shortages and high workloads can be challenging. However, strong teamwork and leadership support help manage these demands.

I have been in the early childhood industry since 2009, and this is my fourth center—by far my favourite. However, I am incredibly grateful to now be part of the Guardian family. The environment at Guardian McKinnon has truly exceeded my expectations. Director Leigh and Assistant Director Stephanie are both approachable, down-to-earth leaders who cultivate a supportive and cohesive team. I have never witnessed a director who supports their team as much as Leigh does. She is constantly on her feet, responding to every need, and when she hears even the smallest cry from any room, she is quick to be there and offer assistance. I rarely see her sitting at her desk—she is always present, helping her team, engaging with the children, and overseeing the overall operation of the service. I am truly inspired by Leigh’s leadership and am excited to learn from her. The level of care and dedication she brings to the team and children is exceptional, and I am proud to be part of such a team.
The good thingsRespect and Inclusion: The center’s foundation is built on respect and inclusion, ensuring all children feel valued and supported. Director Leigh and Assistant Director Stephanie are approachable and hands-on, fostering a positive, collaborative environment for both staff and children.
The challengesWhile transitioning into the center, I initially felt apprehensive, having faced challenges when moving from Nido to Storyhouse. However, the supportive environment at Guardian McKinnon has truly alleviated any concerns, and the strong leadership has made the adjustment seamless.

Know your worth and value your mental health - avoid.
The good thingsThey pay above award.
The challengesGuardian tolerates toxic, unsafe work environments. There are many 'perks', 'mentors' and 'support' staff that you will never see/never receive any assistance from. Guardian does not value educators, they will make you work 'under roof' no matter what they promise. Blame culture from management.

Total lack of support for staff.
The good thingsThe kids are a delight and make the job worthwhile. Wish they had better programs and resources in place for them to enjoy.
The challengesZero support from management. Management is dismissive of concerns, not concerned with staff well-being, care more about the business aspect of the centre. This means the centre is over crowded, under resourced, which affects the kids' safety and well-being. High staff turnover. Job dissatisfaction.
