Ran the shop and LOVED IT! Had to leave and move interstate - otherwise its a great place!
The good thingsBeing a Store Manager at H&G Brookvale meant leading a team in a fast-paced, hands-on retail environment. I enjoyed variety in theday, the customer interaction, and the chance to make a real impact on store success—all with the help of a very approachable & supportive management team.
The challengesHandling customer complaints at peak time. May have needed some extra staff on hand at the time.

Not a great place to work at
The good thingsIt’s really hard to think of something positive since most good people leave this place
The challengesSenior Managers and Directors are removed from reality of what’s going on.
The technology is old and dated with customers constantly remarking about backward it is.
The local Fast food chain has better bathroom facilities.
Parking in Brookvale is bad
Little discipline for bad staff behaviour.

The good thingsExperienced specialist professionals in key roles. Committed and hardworking colleagues. Talent identification by and support of your peers. Inclusive environment and a very diverse workforce. Exceptional scope to contribute if you are prepared to work.
The challengesWidely varied businesses under one umbrella which means the pace of change can appear be slow at times.

Very unorganised & frustrating working for an inexperienced & incompetent transport department. Drivers are expendable according to them. Low pay, & get set up for failure. Get used, no loyalty. No career progression, simply a retirement job.
The good thingsHard to say, wasn’t there long because I didn’t like the atmosphere.
The challengesWorking for arrogant transport management with little experience in the field. When you know more than what they do, there is something seriously wrong there! Hard getting another job because negative stigma/reputation attached to working here. Glad I wasn’t there long. A road to no where...

The good thingsWasn’t there long so hard to say, I left.
The challengesVery low pay, not above award rates at all. Don’t be fooled. The pay structure is all over the place. It suits the company not the hard worker. Work long hours? Get less money. Transport is a complete mess, very unorganised & inexperienced! Need new management.

sub standard employee environment in many areas
The good thingsstaff discounts, flexible manager, never any questions for taking sick leave for any reason
The challengesunprofessional structure, way out of touch with the times, very very long hours (mandatory 7am-5pm M-F plus every 2nd Sat 8am-4pm) with minimum to bare pay structure on offer, poor work/life balance
