Definitely an organisation worth working for and I am hopeful of being rehired in the future.
The good thingsSalary conditions were excellent and the project I was on had a fortnightly RDO. Bi-annual and an end of project retention bonuses were a nice touch. Head office management were supportive and conducted monthly "welfare" checks and were totally transparent. Additional points given for quarterly project sundowners!
The challengesBeing a project environment, the hours were heavy including 3-4am starts to align with international dial-in meetings (pre-Teams). After a certain time, redundancy became part of project life with no other projects to be transferred to. Overall Hatch are a good company to be involved with; they put a lot of other so called destination companies to shame.

Culture is probably the best aspect at Hatch. However, culture is not the only feature to consider when looking for a job. Unfortunately, flexibility, career progression and recognition were things that I found difficult to obtain during my journey in Hatch, and as a result of this, I ended up making the decision to leave the company.
The good thingsCulture is the best at Hatch. Great colleagues and leaders to work with. Diversity and inclusion is definitely something that stands out in Hatch culture.
The challengesFew opportunities for promotions. Bonus and salary review can be mysterious. No efforts to improve processes. Mandatory 5 days in office for everyone can be very overwhelming. Board of directors is obsolete and very flat structure with the organisation, quite old school.

Great people, good vision, almost infinite opportunity
The good thingsChallenging and diverse work experiences available, covering all aspects of project & engineering management services across multiple industry sectors. Competitive remuneration if you contribute to delivering business objectives. Highly profitable business.
The challengesRelatively inflexible culture, suppressing entrepreneurship.

The challengesI worked at hydrotech initially and found the management to be very rough which in turn stressed me on a daily basis. A job is not worth your daily happiness.

    Great experience overall.
The good thingsHatch was a professional company offering amazing career development to all its employees. Their policies and procedures were well thought out and their document management system was A-grade. The versatility they offered with regards to office work and site work was well balanced and they looked after their employees very well when it came to site perks and accommodation and site specific training.
The challengesDealing with local authorities and communities, consultants and contractors had its challenges. Problem solving was at times challenging but within Hatch there was always a professional colleague that could assist.

    Poor leadership management
The good thingsProvide a good opportunity to utilize your skills when there is a job.
The challengesPoor communication between other national teams. Management in local office just looks after themselves, who can't be trust.

Interesting, but glad it is over
The good thingsNo partner concept in company, so leaders in the same function don’t compete with each other for work and undermine each other like I’ve seen at EY.
The challengesNo work-life balance. Building capability across business units. Attracting good people for the average salaries. They get huge financial impetus annually through “share” offers are costly and invariably require you to borrow money to buy. Also, salaries don’t increase a lot because they expect you to supplement your income through buying shares. It only pays if you intend to start young with them and stay a lifetime.

    Upon reflection, very disappointing.
The good thingsWonderful people locally, nice offices in Brisbane.
The challengesRetrenchments seem never-ending. Global leadership does not listen - arrogant and self-serving. Regional management do their best and have the best intentions but cannot mask their own frustrations at times. Staff loyalty is not rewarded, or appreciated. Wonderful people to work alongside but global leadership makes this company very very frustrating to work for. Pay is slightly below average despite management arguing the opposite - the proof is out there.

Rewarding at times but limited by in house politics
The good thingsVaried work. Office work environment close to amenities.
The challengesPoor career development and training. Highly political environment with senior management elitism rampant. Very difficult to develop a fully rounded experience base due to the fact it is a consultancy, you are at the whim of what clients want leading to lack of opportunity to properly develop.

Fortunate to join company shortly after a big project win resulting in a 7 year employment periode
The good thingsHatch has the ability to win large projects as it has a good international reputation. However there can be a time lag between these projects.
The challengesPoor record of planning / securing a steady stream of work due to poor regional office management. Very little effort is made to retain staff once a project comes to an end and no work has been secured - 90% retrenchment in Perth with potential office closure.
