Do yourself a favour and do not work here
The good thingsMet some lovely people
The challengesManagement of CSSD in my experience were awful. They were very unprofessional and lacked leadership skills. They were inconsistent with their communication, leading to confusion and unnecessary hardship . Conflict was prominent in the workplace due to again, poor leadership skills from management. I was a new employee and knew the field, and I felt I was set up to fail.

Work here if you want to be treated like just a number and that you are irreplaceable
The good thingsNursing team on the floor
The challengesNurses are undermined and treated just like numbers. No respect from the upper management and then it’s carried down by the middle managers as they have minimal to no autonomy. Upper management controls everything as it’s the culture of this hospital. CEO left but director is still the same. Very toxic work environment. They want you to do as you are told. They forget they are also healthcare employees and don’t own the hospital. Staff and patient safety if the last thing they are worried about. It’s all about the money. Hopefully it will change with new CEO onboard not that it bothers me anymore.

Any challenges faced are not unique to this organisation and experienced in all private health settings. It is a great organisation to work for and I have taken the opportunities available to grow my career.
The good thingsSupportive culture and work environment.
The challengesMoving from the public system to the private; this took time to understand that processes are simply different.

WARNING do not work there, save yourself and keep looking elsewhere
The good thingsI met a small selection of staff that were great to work with and have become lifelong friends.
The challengesPoor management. Extremely poor working conditions and the most dangerous work loads ever experienced in my nursing career. Management refuse to bring in agency to relieve already burnt out staff. It’s expected you work mass amounts of overtime because of staff shortages. A nasty culture to work in.

Worked with great staff but not supported by Management
The good thingsBeing able to develop relationships with colleagues and Doctors
The challengesManagement, no consistency, toxic. Hospital closure, staff made redundant, 6 months later reopening. Staff made redundant, despite a few months later other hospital in the group advertising for same role.

It has been a learning curve to come into this workplace from a non clinical background, and I do love a challenge to learn on a day to day basis.
The good thingsThe people I work with on a daily basis. Autonomy, connections with the community, and a passionate team. No two days look the same.
The challengesNo two days look the same. This is a pro and con; depending on your opinion.

    Don't do it.
The good thingsThe majority of the nurses are great team players and supportive. Majority of the patients are lovely.
The challengesManagement is incredibly toxic. Don't be fooled by the promises that they will support your education; they don't. You always work understaffed and way over ratios.

The challengesSignificantly under - resourced in some areas with poor communication from senior management and little evidence of broader 'team' approach.

It is not often people can say they love their job, so I am one of the lucky ones.
The good thingsA great employer who supports and encourages career growth. There is a great culture of inclusiveness, positivity and respect.
The challengesMy biggest challenge was transitioning from the public sector to the private at the same time as transitioning from a clinical to a non clinical role.

This was a great place to work when I first started. Nursing staff were respected and supported. These days money comes first. Workloads are high, staffing minimal.patients seem to have control of their environment, which is very risky in a Drug and Alcoh
The good thingsI have shifts that work for me,although there is always an unspoken threat of changing this current arrangement
The challengesVery little support for nursing staff Little or no consequences for patients breaking rules or threatening staff
