Not worth it. High turn over of staff. Expectations of back tracking and expect to travel long distances without pay. Care workers are expected to clean. Care workers could receive on one shift 4-6 domestic assistance shifts. (Cleaning) Only.
The good thingsThe clients. Interaction with clients living at home.
The challengesDomestic assistance (cleaning). Not paid for your time traveling between clients. Not being paid a car allowance for using own vehicle. Long gaps between shifts which is not paid. Expectations that if you receive one shift per day and it's only 30 minutes You work this.

Overworked employees, inadequate facilities and lack of appreciation for staff well-being.
The good thingsWork colleagues, location close to home.
The challengesHelping Hand has lost its people centric focus and the importance of valuing and prioritising the workforce. The expectation to work long hours beyond normal paid hours, including working during scheduled leave, workplace facilities being overcrowded and lacking basic amenities like a lunchrooms equal poor employee experience. Continuous recruitment and the high turnover rate among staff shows how employees perceive their treatment within Helping Hand.

Facility is a little gloomy and the companies rostering 'app' seems to be a little iffy as well, not a lot of diversity in regard to shift hours, lack of shorter shifts.
    The good thingsMostly friendly staff

    Supportive and caring work environment
The good thingsMy team in the Corporate Division is very supportive and encouraging. I find the work engaging and stimulating, and knowing that I am helping to create an environment that will benefit older people is rewarding. I have the ability to have a hybrid work situation, working from home and from an office, which contributes to a good work/life balance.
The challengesThe workload can be heavy, especially since COVID-19 made the aged care sector an intense place to work. There will always be challenges in this changing industry, but I have found Helping Hand to be good at responding effectively to them.

The good thingsworking nightshift you dont have to deal with the drama

Clicky, unproffessional and just a horrible company to work for.
The good thingsThe residents are the only good thing that Helping Hand have to offer, I feel sad that they have to live there!

Lovely people and clients, management is poor.
The good thingsSome wonderful people and the company do seem to want to make a difference in the lives of older people.
The challengesManagement. Very backwards and very cliche-y. If you’re corporate, don’t expect any sort of equal treatment unless you’re friends with the “right” people.

I loved working here! God, take me back to a year ago when I was thriving in the workplace and didn’t have any issues getting myself up for work in the morning. If you’re looking for a job that’s rewarding, flexible, with great management and a supportive
The good things- Get to pretty much decide when you want to work, when you’re available and how many shifts to take on - Coordinators don’t make you feel guilty when saying no to clients - Staff meetings are a blast, finally getting to share your unique experiences and various ways of completeing tasks with other employees - Free manual handling updates - Management was so helpful and supportive - Never denied time off, were always flexible
The challenges- Mostly an intrapersonal environment in the sense you don’t get to be among other employees much. You just have to look forward to work functions - Times of work can be a little unstructured. You may have a 45 minute service in the morning and then a two hour shift three hours later, but filling in those gaps is up to you to say yes to clients - Gradual build up of clientele. For me, it took me a couple months to build up 20/22 hours. So it’s not for everyone if they need full time immediately

    Great lovely clients
The good thingsMost of the clients are lovely,
The challengesHaving a lot of clients in the day without breaks! To much domestic cleaning! A lot of traveling! You don’t get travel allowance when heading to your first client which could be 20-30 mins away! Or if you have a gap say 2 hours or more until the next client you don’t get paid travel which to me isn’t fair! Extremely tiring job especially when you don’t get time for a break!

So disappointed with management and their lack of care of residents and staff.
The good thingsAll of the long-term staff are great, and so are the residents.
The challengesManagement of sites and the head office management really have lost their way and no longer think about the residents or staff. It's all about cost-cutting and pushing staff around to get what they want. There are nowhere near enough staff on the floor and everyone is stressed and unhappy.

The good thingsGreat staff Most all staff get along well and understand time constraints If it wasn't for the staff would of left along time ago
The challengesExpect you to go three jobs for 1 pay Management don't care about staff at all Cut staff to resident ratios but expect you to do same workload
