Can spin a great PD, but the follow through leaves everything to be desired. The good thingsThe fellow officers, at that level there was engagement, support and mutual respect. The officers work so hard and achieve some amazing results!
Working with community was also a highlight - that is only if I was permitted to.
The challengesTeam leaders, Coordinators, and management all acting under what they call "leadership". It's clear this organization has a very outdated and archaic model of leadership that is not sustainable in this new working world. Inconsistent messaging around the directives or tasks and at times outright lies which were reframed as "pivots". Little to no attention around the induction or support into the role, nor was there any care around my progression in the role. Poor skillset in identifying underperformance, managing performance and there is quite clearly a defensiveness/protection when accountability (a professed value of the organization) is called in to question.
