I loved it, until I didn'tThe good thingsThere are many opportunities for professional development training. If you work really hard and/or cosy up to the right people, you have a good chance of promotion.
The challengesWhen I started, I loved it and thought it was an awesome place to work. I attended the two day induction and really drank the Kool-Aid. However, as time went on I felt I was treated more like a resource than a person. The focus was always on work and output over wellbeing - which during the Covid lockdowns in Melbourne was really challenging. It may just have been the team that I was in but I never felt any real sense of camaraderie. It felt really internally competitive and people seemed very willing to look for weaknesses in the work of others, which made for quite a stressful environment day-to-day. I've worked at a few places in my time, and for me, having a great manager and team that believes in me is everything. I didn't have that at HESTA.
