A great company with passionate people, the BEST HR team and lots of opportunities to develop.
The good thingsI really enjoyed the 2 years that I spent working at the HUGO BOSS Support Office. I was supported by an incredibly inspiring and empathetic leader, who gave me the support and space to do some great work and add value where I could. I also had the pleasure of leading an amazing, high performing team, who were deeply passionate about their work and embodied the company values day in, day out. The company really encourages everyone to learn about, live and breathe fashion, with initiatives like lunch & learns, product launches, business updates, supporting in-store and sample sales, so there were always opportunities to feel connected to the brand, product and vision.
The challengesRetail is already challenging enough - so greater alignment amongst the leadership team and holding people accountable, instead of avoiding tough conversations, could go a long way in this business. It was also challenging working for a global business that does not acknowledge, lean on or enable local expertise. There is a lot of talent in the Australian market that is being wasted, that could actually be shifting the needle on a global scale.

Great culture, supportive leadership and strong development opportunities
The good thingsOverall, my experience has been amazing. Approachable leadership team and supportive team culture. I have been offered some great opportunities for development and professional growth. The people are great and I have built many meaningful and long-lasting friendships. The office is well-located with excellent amenities.
The challengesBeing part of a global organisation means many decisions are influenced by HQ in Germany - this can sometimes be frustrating as there isn’t always a lot of flexibility at a local level. Not many cons apart from pay being below market for similar roles & opportunities for salary increases are limited.

This business has afforded me so many opportunities both professionally and personally. All my career defining moments have been with BOSS and I still continue to learn and grow.
The good thingsGreat support from the Senior Leaders, a business that focuses on people, promotes within always looking after those who have a good work ethic and strong core values.
The challengesRetail in general is challenging, especially when you want to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Can't recommend it to anyone I care about. Classic case of over worked, under paid, very little support, and almost zero recognition for good work.
The good thingsDiscounts, Product and Learning oppotunities. Some staff were good to work with.
The challengesUpper management overlooks and often participates in workplace toxicity. They don't notice they're doing it, but I certainly did. Commissions are below par, and expectations were very high.

    Extremely supportive, would recommend
The good thingsBOSS is an extremely supportive company. I really feel that they wanted me to succeed and the only reason I left the company was to pursue a career in my field of study.
The challengesThis is not a reflection on BOSS, there is just limited scope for growth in a city like Canberra.

    Great environment to develop in
The good thingsI have a great relationship with my manager and team. I have constant support from my direct team, and with the wider team here in support office and internationally. There are opportunities for further training and great benefits such as a clothing allowance, staff discount, team building days and birthday leave.
    The challengesRestricted access to tools.

The good things- work life balance - career opportunities and stability working for a global organisation - supportive team and management - trusting culture that allows you to get on with your job and do it well without added pressures
The challengesChallenges are minimal and you can always ask for help if needed or pointed in the right direction.

    Happy, energetic place to work
The good thingsWorking in the office has been amazing, everyone is happy and understanding, the effort that they put in for our training and making sure we're up to date with what's going on in the office/business is incredible.
The challengesWorking in the office in a team that relies on assistance and approval for a lot of things by two different levels of offshore teams for "regional head office" and "global head office" can be frustrating, having to leave things overnight and hope they get finished/answered by the team in Asia or Europe can really ruin the feeling of being on a roll and being able to get help with something quickly.

Was ok while I was there but I have realised I can do a lot better at another retailer.
The good thingsGreat discount off clothes and the quality is great.
The challengesPay and commission is definitely at the lower end of the scale for the average employee in high end fashion. The incentives offered are not very motivating for reaching targets, especially as a team. There is a constant turnover by staff as they realise they can do better elsewhere.

Overall, I have fond memories of the people I worked with but the company is inflexible and doesn't promote a healthy working environment.
The good thingsThe training and development for new staff is excellent and well put together.
The challengesIncentive structure and pay is considerably lower than most other brands, and work life balance for middle management is poor.

A nice brand but the company structure and expectations are not for everyone.
The good thingsThe products you work with are of great quality and you get the opportunity to meet some really interesting clients. My store was also quite encouraging of teaching you new skills and giving you the chance to development transferrable skills for future employment. Generally a good team morale that was supportive and driven but could have a laugh as well.
The challengesUpper-tier retail can often create quite a catty, unhealthily competitive environment between staff. Head office have a very demanding and entitled culture which can be difficult to deal with at times. Very little career development or rewards for hard work/hitting targets, the incentive scheme is very convoluted and often unrealistic to achieve.

So rigid that it lacks compassion
The good thingsVery structured so expectations are clear. Upper management are competent and respectable. Extensive training. Great team of managers running their stores.
The challengesIt's never good enough. After working for almost two years I've had two sick days and I really had to explain myself and fight for it, even with a medical certificate. I do at least 2-3 hours unpaid overtime each week and was made to take annual leave for clocking off 30 minutes early for a shift (which was an honest mistake). They are a little too tied up with policies and procedures.

The job is steady but management is horrible. Nothing is in order.
The good thingsThe team is friendly and supporting.
The challengesIts challenging to comply with everything while there is no appreciation and reward for it. Good performance does not have any reward and bad performance is kinda punishing.

Worst organisation to work for due to terrible management. Terrible management representing a reputed international organisation giving the company a bad name. Very sad!
The good thingsGood quality products and brand
The challengesZero support from management who are highly lacking in experience themselves. Constantly treating staff badly instead of trying to understand or take time to get to know staff
