The challengesLike all organisations, the client management system could be more efficient and user friendly but there is always support available to overcome my tech anxiety.

Only work for them if you have no other option.
The good things Provisional psychology program
The challenges Unclear program guidelines, poor induction and disjointed leadership decision making . Funding obligations often takes precedence . Intake processes at the clinician level unclear, causing clients’ practical needs to be overlooked, which impacts service integrity.

Excellent, would sign a contract again.
The good thingsThe biggest selling point of this place is the team I work with and the management. The work we do can be sometimes challenging while supporting clients with complex backgrounds, so it's especially important that the team you have with you are supportive. I've worked in a lot of different industries and roles, and this is the least stressful place I've ever worked. The work-life balance is well supported, with WFH days available as needed. Also there's some salary packaging options and other benefits as we're an NFP which is handy.
The challengesAt times, the leadership on certain pieces of work has been unclear which has caused some confusion about priorities. But this is manageable once you find out the right person to speak with.

I enjoy coming to work as the majority of staff and management are very approachable and willing to interact and assist at any time and I love being involved with an organization that cares about their staff, their clients and the community.
The good thingsThe workplace, whilst fast paced and varied, is enjoyable and friendly. I love being busy and interacting with other staff in all different departments. With all the different services offered by HPC, it is great to know that I am part of an organization that really cares about their clients, and their employees health and wellbeing.
The challengesComing into a larger workplace, after working in much smaller companies, I found it challenging to get my head around all the different programs and services offered - as well as the varied range of staff who worked here. However, ongoing training offered and taking the time to get to know staff in other areas, as well as keeping up on regular communications from management and other departments, allowed me to have a greater understanding of HPC and the people I work with.

1 to 2 years in the role, former employee
Given that we spend so much of our lives at work, I am happy to say my workplace is enjoyable, social, and is like a second home to me.
The good thingsWonderful working environment with a great team of co-workers always eager to lend a helping hand, answer questions or provide support. Thorough initial training with great supports and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
The challengesWhile I had a few set-backs in career progression initially which was a bit of a disappointment, I was provided with advice to improve skills for further progression and further opportunities to reapply for similar roles and further skill development to apply for additional roles which were subsequently successful.

Despite a rewarding purpose in providing health services to the Hunter region - there is a reason for their high staff turnover.
The good thingsA rewarding feeling of helping clients.
The challengesPoorly structured and inept management, who promptly ignore any genuine concerns or complaints, including security risks for both staff and clients. No opportunities for growth and a complete disregard for their employees, especially anyone in ‘expendable’ roles such as reception or support roles.

    Disappointed
The good thingsAccess to lot of resources. Diverse client population.
The challengesLack of support from management. Too much focus on quantity (billable hours) vs quality of work. Toxic office politics, need to be friends with the right people to further develop in profession Emphasis on high need to meet KPIs and other business targets. Workload is too heavy to be able to adequately support complex client needs.

    Incredibly disappointing
The good thingsMany people are passionate about the services they provide, and being in community services is fulfilling.
The challengesToxic and heavily political company culture paired with management that seems either unable or unwilling to do anything about it. Very disjointed and lacking communication to the point that clients would often mention program changes and additions that we had not yet heard about.
