A large Australian company that does not care about Australians all for extra profit
The good thingsFulfilling role with some good staff, however with Ai and offshore contact centres there is no care for Australia.
The challengesManagement email and text you on days off and do not train anyone. The strong workers get given the lazy workers extra work. No accountability within the management area and they are continuously offshoring roles but tell staff to tell customers to be more open minded. There is no front line trauma training and the culture is toxic.

I would have stayed if I were supported more and not subject to such ridiculous workload expectation
The good thingsIt’s stable work, you can learn a lot about insurance and there were some nice company benefits like discounts on insurance products.
The challengesSo, so many. This was a very unsafe and stressful work environment. The workload expectations are unrealistic - you’re expected to manage a huge caseload of personal injury claims while also handling near- constant inbound phone calls all day like a call centre agent. Additionally, the calls we are dealing with from the general public can be very traumatic and extreme and there is often very little we can do if we are not the case manager of the relevant claim. Management was also unsupportive and mostly unavailable. I experienced rudeness and sometimes overt aggression from management for just seeking help with work related enquires.

The good thingsMeeting some good people throughout the course of my employment.
The challengesWorkload needs to be reduced. Quota is unrealistic.

Great place to work, providing stability with a welcoming aura.
The good thingsVery open minded, inclusive company with many different individuals. The managers I have interacted with were all very kind, understanding, and pro-work and life balance. The company's amenities and benefits for its' workers are great, and there is wonderful flexibility working remotely or attending the office to the employee's choice in most cases.
The challengesTraining was rushed and did not cover everything we would be dealing with, but it is to be expected considering I was ona temp position. The managers were understanding of this and adjusted their expectations accordingly.

The good thingsVery little. I guess reliable work
The challengesIncompetent higher ups, that like to change the roll with out warning (even when this dose not work). I have joined IAG for one job but am now working about 5 different departments, But IAG stated its still all claims department.

Go there only if you urgently need employment and move out as soon as you find another one because IAG is not worth it.
The good thingsI was in Business Insurance. The training was comprehensive but still not enough considering the complexities of the role.
The challengesThey fail to deliver promise. The promise WFH but when the time comes they deny due to absolute silly reasons. No equality as there is a big portion of the staff who are given Hybrid work facilities and there are other who are not even in dire circumstances. The role is very complex and the package just does not justify.

Busy place eg. you were supposed to obtain a cert in assessing within the first year however my manager was too busy to help get it, even after nearly 2 years. Was moved into another team who were managing complaints most of the time and this was difficult because the people you delt with had a very low care level. Constantly evolving workplace and cost cutting changes are always on the horizon. To be honest if I was supported a bit more and left in the team I started in, I would not have left.
The good thingsSome of the people you work with. Learning new software and devices. Learning how the insurance industry works and dealing with some great people. Discounted insurance and discounted share scheme. Company vehicle.
The challengesCrazy busy environment. Managers who seem to handball everything and promise things that will never be delivered. Managing complaints and customers expectations. Knowing that you were always being watched and audited on performance.

Only took the job to get out of a really bad industry and employer. If I had the opportunity today, with the terrible cost of living crisis, I would not take this job. You can barely survive on your own with the below average salary you get here, can't imagine having dependents. If you really want a sales & service role in the finance & insurance sector, there's better paying companies then IAG. Keep looking.
The good thingsGreat colleagues. WFH most days is a benefit, while we still can.
The challengesConstant management changes, which results in conflicting information about processes and procedures. The constant management changes also set back career development opportunities. Every time there's a change, you're back to square one. Management trying to erode WFH, trying to force people into the office more often. Which does't work for most front line sales staff who are on below average salaries. Salary isn't much higher then the minimum wage. Managers that don't listen is also a challenge. Especially when they talk over the top of you, belittle you and speak to you like you're one of their children in front of other staff and team managers, essentially work place harrasment. Managers calling out individuals for not meeting KPI's and highlighting their individual stats in team meetings and in front of other teams also. The mental stress people are put under is horrendous. You really do bond with your colleagues as a result of this work place abuse. Staff wanted a guarantee that workloads will be fair in the recent EA negotiations, the company responded with a "no". Speaks volumes when the company drills their "values" in you, yet don't actually demonstrate them. The company CEO receiving an 18% pay rise, with a 37% increase in profits, and revenue well up on last FY, while front line sales & service staff are offered the government mandated 3.75%, or just 9.5% over 3 years, after only meager increases of 1-2% a year in the previous EA.

a nightmare I am still seeking therapy from
The good thingsThe trauma bond you share with your team mates
The challengesPoor management and the work load during weather events. The very high case loads of 250 claims was ridiculous. no support, no proper leadership or experience in the team.

I am extremely grateful to have had such a long and prosperous career with this company.
The good thingsHelping people protect the things that are valuable to them gave me a sense of achievement and the client a sense of security.
The challenges The location of my primary area of 'client concentration' (location) was geographically too far away from my home base and Covid restrictions impacted my ability to see clients face to face.

Offers good staff incentives and benefits but requires reshuffle in upper management to better communication cascaded through to front-line business decisions.
The good thingsWork/ life operates under a hybrid workforce engagement.
The challengesSalary falls under the low standard market place upon entry-level.

Don’t bother working here. Great if your goal in life is to stress and dream about all the work you have to get done the next day with no time to do it all.
The good thingsHaving a supportive team, people who understand the stress that we’re put through.
The challengesEverything. So much stress, little pay for the amount of work you’re given. High expectations with little to no support

Great coworkers but company doesn't care for staff or customers!
The good thingsCo workers are great and customers are too! The benefits you recieve are pretty good too, such as JB Hi-fi discount and insurance discount.
The challengesManagement, the company is heavily understaffed which means everyone has to work harder to make up for lack of staff. Yes you have annual leave but it's hard to take it because they only have a number of allocated hours for a small number of staff to take off. If you do want to take leavemake sure you apply 2 to 3 months in advanvce minimum!

Great work life balance but very results driven and don't allow you time to action things correctly.
The good thingsWorking from home. The flexibility and many employee benefits.
The challengesThey only allow you to work in one way that dosen't fit everyone's needs. They seem to care more about statistics than the customer or the consultants. They care about quantity over quality.

The good thingsWorking from home and office opportunities, able to choose based on your job role. Great parental leave benefits. Always willing to listen to employees and offer surveys to try and work through challenging times. They very much thrive on the positive outcomes of their customers. Lots of different internal roles to move around in includes different areas in various states around the country. Willing to work with you.
The challengesManagement are always changing. Difficulties with different state managers trying to manage different states. Workloads have increased however pay has not.

Enjoyable to some degree, yet difficult, would I recommend ? never.
The good thingsThe staff are lovely, most people are more than willing to help fairly quickly. The perks and discounts are fantastic. If you know what you’re doing, you’ll do good here.
The challengesHigh staff turnover, already half (if not more) from every intake they have end up leaving. For the work you do, the pay is low, especially compared to other companies who do the same work. Way too much micromanaging, to the point where staff are uncomfortable speaking out.

Might have been a great company 15 years ago, but today it's just another faceless corporate.
The good thingsHigh pay, good work life balance
The challengesSlow; culture ambitions are mainly lip service but majority doesn't walk the talk, especially the management; constant restructures are used to easily retrench people; high turnover rate of staff in some areas; poor risk culture
