If you enjoy manual work, old systems & toxic management then this is the place for you. RED FLAGS
The good thingsWould NOT recommend working here - the values and culture in this company are questionable, there is always a lot of politics. Management is toxic and staff are minding everyone else's businesses except their own.
The challengesOutdated systems, manual processing, toxic management. Micro managers and constant gossip.

Only work here if you're in management and bad at it because you can get away with a lot without any consequences, staff resigning is seem as the norm here while management who's on their phones half the time doing nothing gets praised as long as you know how to lie to upper management.
The good thingsThe people within your team are very friendly, and there's plenty of lighthearted banter between departments, the workload is a bit more relaxed compared to other builders but this can vary greatly depending on your manager. Theres a huge turnaround in both managers and staff every few years and is quite normal to see around 20 out of around 40 people in the office resign every year.
The challengesUpper management is extremely toxic, and that toxicity usually trickles down. It says a lot when poor-performing managers are protected, even after major mistakes. With constant staff turnover, it's nearly impossible to build any real workplace culture.

Your performance was judged solely on the last 3 months of sales if you didn’t meet targets, you were at risk of being let go
The good thingsThe role offered a high level of independence I was trusted to run my own race, and when sales were strong, the earning potential was significant. This motivated me to take ownership of my performance and consistently aim for strong results
The challenges Head office was far away, making it hard to get urgent support. Favoritism toward local sales added challenges. We also frequently dealt with trades chasing overdue payments, which increased daily pressure.

I appreciated the patience of the clients who knew I was new to this role, and my colleagues were very supportive, but for me it was too much to learn in a short period of time, resulting in a nervousness when going to work each day, creating a negative f
The good thingsColleagues support was outstanding. Clients were patient. Learning new skills. The computer programme called 'Framework' which was used by JG King Homes contained an excellent source of information and history in which I could refer to and rely upon.
The challengesNot having worked in the building industry prior to this placement, I found the training was inadequate. It was a learn as you go - Sink or swim. I was sinking most of the time I was there. Not knowing the options clients could choose from which would not add extra cost to their build made it difficult to guide them.
