Genuine culture is unmatched, challenging but fulfilling industry to work in.
The good thingsThe people in the organisation are so genuine and the culture really is unmatched. You can see and feel that a care for children is at the heart and forefront of everything they/we do. It is fulfilling even from an operations side working in the national support services team (not frontline staff).
The challengesThe industry in general is challenging for frontline staff, and improvement can be made to outdated systems and processes, but this is currently slowly underway.

    Toxic management
The good thingsAs a graduate your starting salary is high compared to most places Most co-workers are very nice!!
The challengesPrepared to be micromanaged and targeted by the management. If you are not a friend with them, you'll be micromanaged. Very high workload and with unrealistic expectations. No room for mistakes.

    Horrible experience
The good thingsThe youth we work with are vibrant and front line staff are passionate about their work.
The challengesManagement micromanage. Salary very low. Management not open to reimbursement, paying overtime or letting you take TIL appropriately.

Learning what I did not want from an employer.
The good thingsThe children I worked with
The challengesPoor management. Lack of training. If you aren't friends with management, they will treat you poorly. Unprofessional. Reluctant to reimburse.

You'd be very lucky to secure a position with Key Assets.
The good thingsThe organization as a whole has a real focus on achieving positive outcomes for the children and families they work with. There is also a great focus on staff well-being with staff appreciation day, hybrid working (two days per week WFH), frequent one-on-one and group supervision (monthly for both), training, access to funding for external training or education etc. The salary is average but comes with a vehicle or vehicle allowance and fuel card. When there are opportunities for career development, they first look internally. Decent work load with a case load of up to ten. Senior management is extremely approachable and present. Great work environment (depending on the team/location).
The challengesAs in any area of OOHC, the work with children, carers and families can be challenging. Compared to other similar organizations, this challenge is not so bad considering the support from the organization.

A warm, kind working environment that I'll be staying in for a while!
The good thingsI sincerely love working at Key Assets. On a number of occasions when I have been asked what it's like to work here I've always said that by the very nature of the work we do that there is a genuine feeling that everyone cares for each other. My opinion here is valued and respected, and the work I do is appreciated. My immediate team are fantastic, and I am really lucky to have such talented people around me. I have the opportunity to make positive and lasting differences each and every day which is extremely rewarding.
The challengesWorking with so many offices across the country can be a challenge as making a good connection with people you interact with regularly is much more difficult when it's remotely.

Enjoyed the actual job, but not the techniques used by management
The good thingsYou can make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children. You get out and about, and are not stuck in an office. No two days are the same.
The challengesManagement are micro-managing, and there is a culture of systemic issues whereby 26 staff have been pushed to leave in two years, leaving only two original employees.

I started just over 2 years ago and I don't plan on leaving ANY TIME soon. I lot of people come to work in KA and never want to leave.
The good thingsVery inclusive organisation that celebrates successes very well and will also rally round in times of need. Fabulous place to work for!!
The challengesTheir are challenges in any position, in all my 30 yrs of work I've never worked in a job that didn't have its challenges, it's just if you are the type of person to run at them head on or you let them over come you. There hasn't been a challenge that I haven't been able to handle yet in my 2 yrs with the organisation.
