Toxic work environment. I regret accepting the position.
The good thingsThose that realised how bad the place is has now quit.
The challengesI am deeply concerned about the work environment here, as it is characterized by inappropriate behavior and a lack of professionalism, particularly within management. The atmosphere has been challenging, and I would not recommend this workplace to others.

I had learnt a lot At Kingfisher Bay Resort! It was an amazing experience for me to live on three years and a half…
The good thingsBeing a former employee was a great experience for me, I learnt a lot at Kingfisher Bay Resort, And that experience was very helpful to where I am right now. For me, it’s all about work and I felt very lucky to be one of the Engagement Champion two consecutive years.
The challengesUnderstaffed well those few workers were a backpackers, few were still students so it’s pretty much busy at all times! Come and go!

Career opportunity for those looking for one, those who aren't, just visit.
The good thingsKingfisher Bay Resort Group or Sealink Fraser Island has an amazing in house Training Manager & they really do focus on internal progression. If you are a hard working career driven professional looking for training, mentoring & opportunities to prove yourself, this could be the right platform for you. Kingfisher Bay Resort Group encourages team members to experience the island & provides many opportunities to do so. SeaLink (the new owners) are investing in the products, the facilities & the team & the changes are both positive & substantial. During my time with the business I received support, training, mentoring, opportunities & experience, all of which I am very grateful for.
The challengesIf your not committed to turning up, working hard & conducting yourself at a 5 star level, everyday, I wouldn't bother applying. This fast paced environment full of people commited to best practice, you won't survive.

It will burn out a person quick. The pay does not cover much, and the days are long due to ferry times, but only get paid for 8hrs per day.
The good thingsBeing on fraser, its a beautiful place.

Great experience but would never work or recommend to friend for work at Kingfisher Bay.
The good things- Amazing island itself and the company promotes this from day one. People are great to work with and mostly put in 110% -short commute to work - cheap drinks
The challenges - level of respect/integrity from management to staff Pay is minimum wage. - Managment encourage \"work for free\" ethic - Rostered till 11, work till 10.30 you will get paid till 10.30. Work till midnight, you will get paid until 11 until someone complains via their payslip. - No staff activities - Staff meals are generally terrible, so staff normally don't eat or buy pies and milk from general store, including paying for weekly meal pay. -Departmental communication

    Pays the bills!
The good thingsThe place offers a fairly good work-life balance
The challengesA large organization in terms of operations/revenue, but a \"small minded\" approach to management. Managers are very agenda-driven, and favoritism is supported from top-down. Lack of systems and lots of doubled-up processess.

Made the best friendships whilst working for the worst company
The good thingsThe only good thing about living on fraser island and working for kingfisherbay resort is the strong friendships you make and the beauty of the island itself, the company is the worst i have ever worked for and if it wasnt for the support of the friends i made and the department i was in i would of left alot earlier than i did. I would only recommend this company solely based on the staff and the connections and friendships you make. That is the ONLY positive
The challengesLack of staff activities, poor quality of food, terrible higher management who do not care about the staff, poor living conditions.

Grateful for the fabulous opportunity... but disappointed cross managment issues ended my experience without cause or any feedback that made any sense!
The good thingsFabulous workmates, environment & mateship
The challengesAgeism, travel for some (personally I loved it) long shifts when necessary ( again I loved it) & a gap between workers & managers!

    Finding my own way!
The good thingsAmazing beautiful Island. Staff are amazing and you are able to join the family. The crazy things you are able to get up to is incredible. Spending days at the beach and afternoons on the jetty fishing or having a cocktail watching the sunset is breath taking.
The challengesManagement watch and judge you like a hawk. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TRAINING!!! I had the chance to progress from a food and bev attendant to a salary paying role and was expected to know what I was doing straight away. When I did make mistakes I was told off and not told what I should've been doing. This place is amazing don't get me wrong but there is no support or encourangement from management WHAT SO EVER.

An over rated experience, disappointed i could no grow with the company !
The good thingsliving on a beautiful island !
The challengesi do not have anything nice to say about this company. i was in a supervisors position in a managerial roll. if what i was doing was wrong then i dont know why i lasted over 8 months in the position. i was supposed to be promoted to manager but never was due to my c.o.g.s (cost of goods and sales) being out. i never priced the goods as that was done by the company. i went above and beyond what i was supposed to do as i wanted to grow with the company but was treated like a number which they clam never to treat there staff in that manner. in the end management looked for any excuse to dismiss me with no warnings or chances to hold my job.

Amazing but you can only do island life for so long;)
The good thingsAt KingFisher Bay Resort you will meet life long friends! Staff are amazing and welcome you with open arms. Your nights will likely be spent at dingo bar and days by the beach. So much fun. Supervisors and Managers are pretty laid back too, everyone is friends and respects each other. Such a fun experience living and working on the island.
The challengesAs a staff member you are not taken care of as you should be. If something needs fixing in your room it won't get done, the gym is the worst gym i have ever had to use and for what you pay for the food - carby and fatty. So after a couple months that life style gets tough.
