It is absolutely horrific how people in the data team are being treated by the current manager. The unrealistic expectations, and verbal demoralisation when you fail to meet those expectations is toxic beyond imagination.
The good things- The moral satisfaction we get by working for a noble cause
The challenges- Leadership [especially] in the data team - Lack of support from management when giving upward feedback - Unrealistic expectations

The good thingsFlexibility, rewarding work, great team, trust and autonomy
The challengesWorking for a not for profit means budgeting can be tight and the services (eg IT support) are less than what you would get at a corporate workplace

    Poor organisational maturity
The good thingsOpportunity to make a difference. Not a mature organisation, so needs someone who can handle dysfunctional leadership from CFO and CEO
The challengesPoor organisational maturity from the leadership team. Quite dysfunctional leadership from CEO and CFO. Long tenure from CFO does not help with getting an outside perspective.

Great cause, bad culture and structure.
The good thingsYou are contributing to a great cause.
The challengesSome days there was no working IT at all, upper level management dictate all decisions big and small and you have limit ability to be heard or have input.

The protracted restructure has moved the focus of LF to Brisbane away from patients and community engagement.
The good thingsThe opportunity to work with the community, donors and support patients and their carers during challenging times are the highlights of this meaningful work.
The challengesA large proportion of the management team are new, slow to implement and there is little opportunity for employees to have any real influence. The new structure is being implemented by stealth with a proliferation of senior management roles. Valuable knowledge is held by the staff on the ground. Staff turnover is extremely high, leaving gaps in service delivery and those remaining keep their head down so as not to rock the boat.
